★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Casa de la Luz was a beautiful hotel to come back to after a day exploring the city. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms were very nice. The staff was exceptional and extremely friendly and helpful. We will be staying at Casa de la Luz again when we return to Mexico city.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ AT YOUR OWN FINANCIAL PERIL!
Great hotel and location...BUT! The BUT is important to those of you attentive to your hard-earned money. This property charged us on June 10 prior to our group arrival. Then, decided on July 12, to charge us again because American Express was taking its sweet time to pay them. Mind you we were charged, and debited from our American express account on June 10, the hotel thought it would be a great idea to, without authorization, charge us again because their credit card processor had not yet batched their payment. THEN, not content enough, they authorized our card a 3RD time for the same amount, which took 9 days to drop off. We are still waiting for a refund from this property!
While our experience there was good (not great, good! They conveniently left out an extremely noisy dance club is across the street), they have lost our business for good by being shady and dishonest.
Merchants accepting credit cards should not take it on their clients when their credit card processor or bank does not credit their account on time. That is NOT the clients problem, but unfortunately, they now have made it ours.
BUYER BEWARE!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This hotel in a historic building is gorgeous and well located. The rooms may be a little rough around the edges but it's made up for by the staff, delicious breakfast and design.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What to say…. Lovely hotel, design and idea behind but… THE NOISE! It is disaster… their concept of conservation the old building seems to be a money-saving for them. It is possible to change windows and to save the atmosphere of a building from another century. Why should it affect the sleep of your guests? I swear, it’s like you sleep on the streets.
Also here I read about fine of 100$ for damaging a bedsheet so I don’t understand why I slept on the sheets with holes ??♀️ and my towel was teared apart.
Otherwise the team is adorable and restaurant on the rooftop is a lifesaver, breakfast-delicious.
However I can’t recommend this place to my friends and I definitely won’t come back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This hotel is beautiful and the staff are super nice. The restaurant on the rooftop is also very good. It's close to the city center area but not walkable at night (after 8pm). I would stay here again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were there Thanksgiving week with a group of friends. As expected phenomenal service from all staff especially Jesus. The food in the roof top restaurant is the best in Mexico City. It’s our fourth stay in that hotel and will always stay there. All 10 of us were very impressed with Jesus hospitality and he genuinely care about the safety of the guest. He is very kind and probably one of the few people in the world with Stellar attitude.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We loved Casa de la Luz! We stayed one night before a trip to Oaxaca and then another three when we came back and the service and hospitality was top notch both times! We were especially well looked after by Jésus and Fransisco, but all the staff were phenomenal - really helpful and attentive. Our rooms were great and super clean, lovely rain shower and very spacious. Also very reasonable rate given the location and the super generous breakfast. Fully recommend the restaurant for lunch or dinner also!
