Casa del Alux is a beautiful and gorgeous place in the corner of Holbox Island! It's perfectly located with bucolic landscapes. The service was exactly what we were looking for, and our hosts were lovely and professional people. We will be back soon!

Loved staying here so much that we extended our stay to 3 weeks in total. The previous issues with poor internet were rectified whilst we were there so could easily hold video conferences whilst working remotely. It's 200 meters to the beach, so close I didn't even bother with footwear and less than 10 minute slow walk into the town. The owners were great and went out of there way to accommodate us and sort the wifi out. The housemaid is amazing. If I ever return to Holbox then I will be looking to stay here again.

The service is horrible. Room was hot and host is very unfriendly. Internet is non-existent. It was raining the day before we arrive. The road to this place was all muddy and flooded. We were not able to get into the apartment as the combination lock didn't work so we have to text for help. It took forever to get a response from the host and she was not very nice. Then it took another hour of waiting outside in the heat and eaten alive by mosquitos before the maid came to let us in. After we finally get inside we found that the aircon was set at 26 degrees C (I believe intentionally) and there is no remote control. We borrowed a remote from our neighbour and try to lower the temperature but the aircon didn't respond. There was no key to the safe and lots of ants in the bathroom. It took another two hours for the poor maid to come back and give us a key to the safe. She speak no English and the host couldn't be bothered. We told her the room was very hot and stuffy. She said we have an aircon and it turns on and that's all you get. No remote! Then she stop answering our text. So with all the problems we lose half a day of our vacation. We were being polite not to leave a bad review on Airbnb but she in turn left a comment that we were 'Very Demanding'. Really? So asking for basic aircon and internet is "Demanding". Don't stay here! p.s. We did not rate on Airbnb because we were being nice.

We booked Casa del Alux for a week's stay during our Honeymoon and we cannot say enough good things about this place. First of all, the location is perfect and quiet to relax. You can walk to the beach (5 min) and downtown (10 min). We received the instructions for self-check-in and it was a smooth process, easy and quick. To our surprise, the room was decorated with flowers and a cute little basket of fruits for us to enjoy during our stay as a gift for our honeymoon! Also, the room was super comfortable, AC works great, and equipped with all the basic things needed to cook. We enjoyed the hammocks on our balcony to read, take naps and relax looking at the birds passing by the small lagoon with the mangroves. Lastly, we had the chance to rent the bikes from the Housekeeper (a super nice lady) and it was a nice addition to exploring the island. Altogether, Casa del Alux was like a dream come true and we are really grateful for our experience. We cannot wait to go back! Thanks again!
