The writer's house is an excellent site for cultural events. You have to request it in advance, check the event schedule and it is located only 100 meters from the Bacalar lagoon with one of the best landscapes in southern Mexico.

It is a beautiful and very quiet space in which cultural activities promoted by Professor Ramón Iván Suárez Caamal frequently take place, with the participation of local, state, national and international representatives. Great artistic _cultural movement, particularly in music, painting, cinema and literature. Bacalar grows and stands out with these activities. Success Mr. Director!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The International House for Writers is not your usual cultural centre: it is best defined as an exhibition space and a bunch of rooms for lodging whatever artists have impressed somebody.
It is an awesome place for writers: the lodging is based on some five bungalows, each with four hotel-styled rooms, a small living room, and the main building with the exhibition space, lounge, dining room, kitchen, and the company of any artists currently lodged.
The main building has WiFi. Other than that, there are no modern distractions.
If you will be lodged here, bring your own towel and all toiletries. And don't forget your bathing suit, as the municipal water park is just three blocks to the north and costs next to nothing.
It isn't really needed here, but if you simply need to shower with hot water, ask the administration to start your bungalow's water heater.
