Cool staying nice house clean and organized

We spent 10 days in the penthouse of Casa Kalani which is actually two full floors in a 4-floor house. The two floors are both for the exclusive use of the penthouse rental. The 3rd floor is an open concept bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. The top floor is a large palapa covered open space with a table, hammock and built-in bench. A great space with a sea breeze and views of the ocean. There is a shared small pool on the ground floor which is great for cooling down when you can't take the 30oC heat! We went to the Zicatela market and cooked some of our meals in the apartment. Cooking supplies are ample but nothing special. There is a mini-fridge on the 3rd floor and a full-size fridge on the fourth floor. La Punta is a great place with many restaurants and a really great vibe. Not as touristy as Zicatela Beach. The south part of the beach is great if you like jumping in the waves. Probably not great for young kids or weak swimmers. For 100 pesos you can rent two lounge chairs. From La Punta you can travel to the main city or Zicatela beach for 40 to 50 peso by taxi or for 8 pesos per person by colectivo if you want a bit of an adventure. The only drawback to this property and I think all of La Punta is the number of dogs and roosters. I love dogs but there are many dogs at La Punta and they like to bark. The dogs are friendly for the most part and seem to have their own community. If they are protecting their property or just afraid or ... they bark. So expect to hear barking. As I said above, this is a less touristy part of Puerto Escondido and as such you are living among Mexican families. This is a rural area so many families keep chickens and roosters. Roosters start announcing sun up an hour before sun up and then go off at will during the day. So expect to hear barking dogs and roosters but you're on holidays in paradise so lay back and relax. the owners, Afrodite and Ruben, are very friendly and are available to assist you as required. They have many suggestions regarding activities and restaurants but leave it to you to ask if you need assistance. We have already started planning next year's return trip!

We stayed on the top floor, which includes the rooftop palapa of this four level house. We were there for three weeks in February 2019 and liked it so much that we went back for the month of February in 2020. Casa Kalani is well situated in the heart of La Punta and in easy walking distance to restaurants, shops and the beach. Taxis are frequently driving by and you can get a taxi to anywhere in the greater PE area for less than 50p. The jump on jump off collectevos are also a cheap and fun way of getting around. This casa is immaculate with the owners providing attention to detail, which you seldom find with rentals in Mexico. There is a small pool in a beautiful garden setting which is perfect for a dip on those hot afternoons. The property is very secure with the only access to the property being the locked front gate. The owners: Afrodite, Ruban, their son Kalani and two dogs live on the ground floor. They are very friendly and a great source of local knowledge; whether it is finding that special restaurant, swimming beaches, fishing trips or day outings to other locations, just ask. The building consists of the ground level and basement main house, 2nd floor rental suite and 3rd floor rental suite + 4th floor palapa. Out of the 14 or so places we have stayed at in Mexico, this is by far the best.
