Wow! It's almost impossible to describe this fantastic villa. Our group of 3 generations, ages 5 - 61, was completely taken with the experience. From our arrival at the airport, when the owner quickly changed our transportation arrangements at our request, to the very last minute on the property, we were amazed. Carmen's food never disappointed - the presentation and flavors were delicious! And quite economical. Danny's service was exceptional. He kept the margaritas, pina coladas and daquiris flowing every day. He arranged for a pinata for a birthday celebration, which the little ones loved. The heated pool felt wonderful after washing off the sand from the beach and ocean. And that beach!! It felt like our very own! We spent one afternoon with a cooler of drinks on the beach - boogie boarding, making sand castles, burying each other, etc. We had at least 8 boogie boards and 2 kayaks to play with. The hammocks in the yard were also a huge hit with our grandchildren. Housekeeping did a fantastic job every day, we hardly knew she was there! Our laundry was done as needed. The home is absolutely beautiful, with authentic Mexican decor, the yard and pool are beautifully maintained, but most of all, the staff is amazing. Our kids and grandchildren are hoping for a return trip, so am I!

Wonderful stay in February 2015. Casa Macumba was everything we hoped for. There were 13 ladies on our vacation, mostly family and close friends. The estate is quite nice with lots of open space that fronts the bay. The sound of the waves is very peaceful but can be loud at night, sure didn't bother any of us. Six of the rooms are spacious with en-suite bathroom. Besides a king bed in each of these rooms, each has at least one single bed. Each room also has an independent air conditioner and locking doors. A safe is available on site. The seventh room is smaller and just as described on the website, a room with a king bed and the bathroom is off the veranda. This room also has a door that can be accessed from the large bedroom that is adjacent. Beach access to Playa Punta Negra is easy, just unlock the secure gate and go down the small flight of steps and you are on the beach. Our group used the beach toys including a double kayak, boogie boards and snorkeling gear. This area of the beach is usually very quiet but busier on the weekend. It was nice to see families enjoying the surf and sand. Down the way, heading towards the town, there are two small beach side restaurants. We dropped in for beer one afternoon. The highlight of the entire villa is the staff. All of the crew are delightful and we enjoyed our time with them. Carmen is an amazing cook and we often let her “surprise” us with her selection for dinner. There was never any issue with her providing a separate vegetarian or shellfish free meal. Monika is super at creating just the right margaritas, strawberry daiquiris, and Pina coladas. OH, the guacamole, we called it “crackamole” as it was just so good and we had to have it at very meal. Whatever we needed, we just asked and it would be delivered the next day or a taxi / van would be ready for us at a specified time. The owner Blair is great at concierge. Given a heads-up, a day or two notice, and we were set for zip lining. Although we pretty much did our own side trips via van or taxi. It was too hard to leave such a perfect location. The staff including the chef, waiter/ sous chef, maid, houseman and laundry lady are included in the price posted. You pay for the food, drinks, etc, anything that you request. The suggested amount was $20 US per person per day. After the evening meal, the cook turns over receipts for what was purchased and there is a small cost of about $11 US for each shopping trip to cover travel. Most of the time, we did not use the entire amount we gave the cook and the remaining funds were given back to us and we turned over the next day’s money. Our groups had a few special requests and those were found for us. We did tip extra for special items found (i.e. a special wine). A week before we arrived I spoke with Blair, the owner, and let him know what we liked and any dietary issues with those in our party. At that time I selected the initial cold drinks for the cooler (beer, sodas, water, etc), snacks, drink and dinner for the first night. Blair offered to secure vans for airport transport and I went ahead with that. The cost was $12.50 per person. We could have just caught taxis but I figured it was easier than wrangling 13 women most whom had never been to PV airport. This was a good decision for us, the first group out knew not to talk to anyone and look for a person holding a sign with my name on it. Our group pooled money before leaving for all the food and tips. We assigned one person to manage the funds for the food. The tips we put into individual envelopes and left them in the safe for the last day . At any time a staff member did anything special we did tip for that separately at that time – carrying chairs and items to the beach, special shopping.

Stayed for a week with 4 families with kids in Casa Macumba (there are two properties next to each other) - had an amazing time. I would strongly recommend reading the rental agreement closely and the additional documentation that Blair (host/owner/manager) sends along for additional charges around meals/14+ people/etc. - we missed all that and had some very expensive last minute surprises BUT... technically it was all documented and it was my fault for missing it. The staff really is incredible - made the trip amazing. I think if you go in with a mindset of "I'm spending a fortune so I don't care about minor additional charges" (around food/meals) you will have an incredible time.

One of the best vacations my family has ever had. Seven of us with my mother. When we were planning this trip I asked Blair if there was a wheelchair for my mother. He said no there wasn't and I thought we would have to bring her's from home. Lo and behold a couple of weeks later Blair emailed me to say he had purchased one for us to use. Talk about service before we even got there. The house was all on one floor which was very good for mom and the rest of us to navigate. The grounds are immaculate and the beach is one of the best in Puerto Vallarta. The staff is the best you could ask for. Carmen is an amazing chef. We had a few questions about Gluten free food and she was able to accommodate us seamlessly. Pepe is very helpful to her and he always had a cold drink for us to have. My Mom has already said she would like to go back next year.. The Vachon's May 2017

Where is the 6th star? 5 is not enough! We stayed with a group of 19 and to a person it was the perfect vacation (8 parents, 3 college age, 5 high school and 3 middle). Carmen and Danielle provided the most incredible meals, time after time (do not skip that service!). Fermine and Liticia made the property shine each day and Blair went above and beyond whenever we had a request. His referrals were all amazing so don't hesitate to seek input from him. Private pool when you want it and only steps to a beautiful beach that provided us hours of entertainment from floating, boogie boarding, kayaking, renting wave runners and endless views. We also enjoyed private snorkling tours and a fishing excursion from Javier Lopez who picked us up each time right at our beach! His services are exceptional and also are highly recommended. Each room has private bath and access. The location is away from the bustle of downtown PV and provides an excellent setting to relax and enjoy yourself.

We stayed at casa milagro(next door, same owner) Amazing place, staff and owner. The food was delicious and well prepared, the rooms were clean, spacious and all of them had great views. The house itself was baby friendly; including the pool. Overall was a great holiday! We would have been pleased with either Macumba or Milagro.

This is an amazing place. Delicious food which was so well prepared and presented. All the staff was so accommodating, treated us so well and anticipated our every need. The entire place was kept incredibly clean. The bedrooms are huge and beautifully decorated. You definitely feel like you are in Mexico as you relax by the pool and listen to the pounding surf. Very relaxing. We didn't ever want to leave.
