El Instituto se creo en 1991 para estudios de maestría y doctorado, investigaciones en el área de las Ciencias y Humanidades. Actualmente el Instituto cuenta con tres sedes. El edificio Presno, la Casa Amarilla y el edificio de la Aduana Vieja. Como muchos otros edificios históricos se encuentran en resguardo o uso por la Universidad.
El edificio Presno data del siglo XIX. Es un buen ejemplo de la arquitectura de principios de siglo y de la herrería característica de la época. Totalmente arquitectura porfiriana, que en este y otros edificios dejó una huella muy visible en la conformación de la ciudad de Puebla.
Si bien el edificio tiene funciones académicas es de interés turístico por su arquitectura. Me gustó recorrerlo y apreciar los detalles constructivos y de decorado
Postgraduate unit of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. The Institute was created in 1991 for master's and doctoral studies, research in the area of Sciences and Humanities. Currently the Institute has three offices. The Presno building, the Yellow House and the Old Customs building. Like many other historical buildings they are in shelter or use by the University.
The Presno building dates from the 19th century. It is a good example of the architecture of the beginning of the century and of the characteristic smithy of the time. Entirely Porfirian architecture, which in this and other buildings left a very visible mark on the conformation of the city of Puebla.
Although the building has academic functions, it is of tourist interest for its architecture. I liked going through it and appreciating the construction and decoration details
