Double charged even after explaining we prepaid on hotwire, 2 weeks later still no refund. Disputed amount with the bank. Something fishy about this place...

Google/the hotel (indirectly?) allows you to pay and book through a third party only to arrive with the hotel at capacity. The hotel and google should not allow payment and booking a room if it is not available. I walked 30 mins to this location to find that it was fully booked.

Absolutely disgusting hotel. Hasn't been cleaned properly in years. Toilets don't work properly. No hot water. Over priced & I can't believe how much I paid to stay in this dump. Don't waste your money staying here. It's awful.

This is a 2 Stars hotel. The room was very dirty specially the bathroom. The tv doesn’t work for 5 days. The breakfast and the chef was really bad. The waitresses were fantastic. And the location is really good cause you are at the end of the 5th Avenue and to can go both ways.

Very good location. Be aware they don't have an elevator for this 4 story hotel. We liked the hotel overall. Hot water in our room just barely worked. The little restaurant is very good and reasonable. All of the employees are very nice and friendly. We stayed on the 4th floor and with no elevator the stairs were a challenge for my wife. There are many things we liked about the place but probably wouldn't stay there again.

This rating is primarily for our room. The hotel itself is very cute, well located, staff nice, clean, good cafe on top of hotel. Our bed was very hard, and pillows were awful... One hard as a rock and other felt like putting your head on a bag of dirty laundry. Also only 1 bed sheet as your cover and have to rent other linens.

I booked the room for 2 king beds (for 4 people) 3 months in advance. When I got to the hotel they only had one room with one king size bed. The other rooms were completely booked and they refused to give us the actual price for the single bed room. We talked to them for 3 hours to figure things out. We ended up paying full price for one bed for 4 people because we had no where else to stay. The next morning we cleaned up all of our stuff and put everything away as we were expecting turndown service. Upon returning, our bed was soaking wet. We tried talking to management and they claimed that we spilt a drink on the bed (which we definitely did not. They were trying to frame us.) and then threatened to charge us for a new mattress and extra cleaning services for the sheets. (They didn’t provide blankets). After talking to management again for another 2 hours we finally just asked for a refund because they were causing so much trouble. They denied the refund at first and we had to threaten to go to the credit card company for them to agree. They tried to get my banking info (sketchy again) and they wouldn’t do the refund back on my credit card. They also charged us 22% to do the refund (losing over $400). Then they agreed to refund us in Pesos and it took a week to get it. Probably spent over 8 hours there total trying to find a solution. Additionally, there were 3 other groups getting angry and having trouble with their stay as well. If you still choose to stay there, call to confirm you have the right room booked. The only good part was some of the staff were kind.

You get what you pay for. The hotel is a lot more run down compared to what's advertised in the pictures. If I were to visit Playa Del Carmen again I would opt to stay elsewhere and pay more money for better rooms and facilities. I had to move rooms because the original room I was given had lots of issues. Room smelt of damp mould, some surfaces weren't cleaned properly, missing safe, loud refrigerator, showered head that sprayed water everywhere, missing hairdryer, slow Internet, etc. The room I got moved to wasn't much better, but was a slight improvement. The main upside was the location and the staff were quite friendly. Otherwise I would have given it 2 stars.
