Hotel has a good location overlooking the city and within walking distance to Pipila, street food and some local artistian shops. Breakfast cooked homemade every morning and served with fruit tea and coffee. Very unique building. Wifi signial can be bare depending on where your at on the property. Free rides on the funicular are also included.

Despite having a little trouble finding in my car, once we arrived, all the reviews we had read did not due this hotel justice, FANTASTIC would hardly describe the location, setting and accommodations. If you are looking for quaint, clean, unbelievable breakfasts, and a great host - Rick and Carmen, this is the spot. Secure parking, very easy (via tram) to the downtown historic center and breath taking sunrises, that is how I would describe Casa Zuniga, Erin and Dianne January 2014

Carmen and Rick are the real deal. They are so caring about their clients. The wonderful Mexican breakfast is fantastic! It is a great opportunity to meet other guests and compare stories. The rooms are very clean and our room (the Max) had a beautiful balcony overlooking Guanajuato. There are so many beautiful sculptures and art work to enjoy on the property, from the airplane on the roof to the sculptures on the lower floor...all of which are created by Rick. Comfortable beds and plenty of hot water to shower. You will receive free Funicular passes during your stay. Each morning Rick would join us at breakfast for awhile and tell us some history of the area and where we should visit. Rick is a great story teller! We loved our stay and would highly recommended Casa Zuniga!

I fell in love with Guanajuato during my stay this month.  A large part of its attraction was due to Casa Zuniga's commitment to ensuring that its patrons experience the best that the city has to offer.  Carmen is from Guanajuato and she and Rick returned there in 2006 after 40 years in the Bay Area.  Their goal was to build a B&B that showcased the best of the city.  Situated high above the city (next to the funicular and El Pipila monument), its rooms have a breathtaking view of the valley and adjacent mountains.  The B&B, designed by Carmen and built by Rick and his team, is an escheresque assortment of beautiful rooms and balconies filled with artwork by Rick and other Mexican artists.  My room (Max) and balcony were very spacious and artfully decorated.  The only room change that I might suggest would be to add more pillows for those that like to read in bed at night. The breakfasts were delicious and included enchiladas, scrambled eggs, white beans, and fresh fruit and juices.  Most enjoyable however was the time that Rick spends at the table each morning talking about the history of the region, from its first Spaniards, priests and mines to the present.  The man is a wealth of knowledge that he enjoys sharing with his guests.  If you are lucky (as several of us were), Rick may take you site-seeing to some of the less traveled, but amazingly interesting attractions such as the 16th century La Valenciana mine where he is a beloved regular. Casa Zuniga's free funicular passes are also fun and helpful for the weary traveler. If possible though, I'd recommend visitors tough it out and walk/climb the callejons (small alley streets).  They are well worth it! My only other recommendation for visitors to Guanajuato is to consider bringing earplugs if you like to sleep with the windows/doors open.  The city is a dog-lovers paradise and the four-footed dwellers love to commune with each other from the rooftops throughout the night.

Rick and Carmen are fantastic hosts and offer a delicious breakfast! Rick offered his immense knowledge and took on on the mine tour. He is a docent of mining history and Guanajuato’s historical importance in MX. Their Casa is a wonderful place to explore his art pieces depicting many historical events in Guanajuato. Cannot explain how amazing our experience was with this darling couple with an exceptional staff. Free funicular but the stairs are quite a workout if you dare! Experience this unique stay yourselves. Hot water comfy beds, wonderful views and ez access to come and go. However this is not for those with mobility issues. You must descend stairs to access. P

Mike and I (Lynn) have LOVED our stay at Casa Zuniga! Our daughter stayed at Zuniga three years ago and highly recommended it, so we came with very high expectations. Even so, it exceeded our expectations! There can't possibly be a better view in the entire city. There are view decks that make it possible to look out from all different directions and our room had huge windows with full-on views to the east, south and west (we could watch both the sunrise and the sunset from our bed!) Our hosts, Rick and Carmen, were very welcoming and made us feel free to enjoy all the many comfortable living spaces throughout the casa. The casa itself is lovely - artistically designed and decorated and spread out over different levels. Breakfast was a treat each morning with very healthy as well as tasty choices. Great location! All this gave us plenty of reasons to love Casa Zuniga - but there was one more thing that made it extra special. Rick is very knowledgeable about all things past and present in Guanajuato - every conversation we had with him was not only super interesting, but FUN (Rick has a great sense of humor. and unique ways of looking at things)! We are SO GLAD we got to spend time at Casa Zuniga!
