Magnificent. Took us 3 hours to get here to avoid protests on the main roads so a convoy of about 8 buses headed off to remote parts to get here. Well worth it. Apart from seeing true Mayan territory on the way the landscape was gorgeous. The cascades are the most beautiful azure and don’t be lured into the first pool. There are several as you walk uphill each with its own uniqueness. There is a ‘lifeguard’ on duty with a whistle and flotation ring on a rope. Yes it’s trivial but some of he younger men were pushing the boundaries through the rapids. There are plenty of changing rooms and toilets along the way as well as stall holders with souvenirs and refreshments. Water temperature was brisk but within 20 seconds was so refreshing you can’t get out. Bottom is clear and mostly white sand. No creepy crawlies in these waters. Wheelchair friendly until you want to go uphill then it isn’t. Kid friendly. No wifi. There is another set of falls nearby which I’d also recommend doing on the same trip.
