While is place is advertised as a quiet nature reserve. It does have the potential to be that . It is in the midst of the jungle. I had book for 3 nights for a cabin with attached private bathroom for 1 person. I arrived to find out the one cabin with attached bathroom sleeps 5 and it's a hundred dollars a night. I ended up in a green cabin with no privacy and had to walk a 100 yrds across for all bathrooms use. While there is a makeshift kitchen and sitting area court yard there is no food availlable for guests. You have to bring your own or walk or drive to the mile and a half to the local village for accommodations. I had anticipated a queit stay, on the first night there after visiting the village of Chemuyil around 6 30 pm , the pounding sound of rancho music started from the resort next door . A quicinera was on the way. It went on until 230 AM. The only relief was the occasional rain storm that apparently disrupted the ongoings. I devoped a massive fromtal lope headache. Could not sleep. I confronted Renzo the host as to why he advertised this place to be quiet and peaceful, he rudely responded that ' is ain't that the way it is back I the states where I came from'. He offered tomorrow to be a better day and there was nothing he could about the noise. I spent the rest of the night coordinating my departure for the next morning. Finally after 3 am I tryed to get some sleep only to twist back and forth in the extreme humidity of the forest. In the morning my taxy, Valentin was there early to rescue me from this inconveniece. I had hoped for a quiet stay and hiking opportunuty. But I ended up with loud disco noise, a massive headache and cost of $120. I had no problem with lack of accommodation but the pounding music all night long in the false advertisement of peace and quiet left me untrusting of what else was to come. The host was a bit to unconcern of my dissastifying experience I would not recommend this place to anyone, regardless of how much you want to experience the wilderness. Not mention the yard dogs, running at you and barking in a hostile manner. Don't fall for the add as to the uniqueness of the place. There's nothing there.

Don Renzo is a great host. We had booked the tipi but once we got there, he upgraded us to a palapa. Cavelands is a great escape from the noisy resort towns on the coast, so if you want some quiet time it's a great option. Chumyul, the small town 10min walk, comes alive at night. People set up taco and enchilada stands. Also, try the breakfast place located in the central square. There's also a nice, quiet nature reserve beach (about 30mins walk) that you have to pay at, but it's definitely worth it.

Total bliss. I walked in with my tent and was warmly welcomed. I’m lucky enough to be the only person here so I have everything to myself- personal Cenote, outdoor kitchen, big netted chill out room with hammocks and loungers... Another Cenote and a cute town with good restaurants a few minutes walk. One bike to rent. Very shady and cool, perfect place to just relax in the jungle

I did some great healing at caveland and I met with the family of Don renzo I felt honored to be a guest and part of the family there. I love living in the jungle for a month and a half in the beautiful little community. I got time to take a break for myself and I'm very grateful

Great place to camp or rent a cabin. You can really connect with nature without sacrificing comfort. There are clean bathrooms with showers and hot water. The contact number in the website does not work and neither does the e-mail. If you show up you'll receive a warm welcome.

Cavelands and the area is THE BEST, when you want to experience the beautiful nature, the cenotes and the ocean without having all the crazy tulum and playa tourist madness! Nicole is taking very good care, always making sure to provide a nice experience for everyone! Just stay here instead of going anywhere! That is my reccommendation! ❣️

If you’re looking for a place that is relaxed, down to earth and away from Tulum touristic craziness; look no further. The beautiful Cavelands is situated in the middle of nature, beautiful cabañas and camping spots are surrounded by lush jungle. The property includes a well equipped kitchen, a fireplace, two caves worth exploring and a private cenote to cool off during a hot day. The place attracts a nice crowd and people tend to stick around for a few days. Nicole is a wonderful host and she will be more than happy to supply you with tips or recommendations for your trip and the surrounding area. Within walking distance of Cavelands, Chemuyil offers multiple eating opportunities, from a small seafood estaurant to local streetside taquerias. From the centre of Chemuyil the beach is just a short Collectivo ride away (M$25). This same Colelctive will get you to Chemuyil from Tulum or Playa del Carmen without a problem.
