Cenote Chukum - 97206 Tikuch

The cenote is lovely—large and inviting, as many have said. The admission price is higher than average, but they don’t charge for life jackets, lockers, or the zip lines, unlike other places. The bathrooms and changing rooms are clean and modern. It’s a mostly covered, underground cenote, which means the water is a bit cold, so keep that in mind. It’s not the “best cenote in Vallodalid,” but it’s an enjoyable experience. Get there before the midday busses start pulling in, discharging scores at a time—it can get very noisy inside. So why two stars? Because we made the mistake of going for the lunch buffet/cenote visit combination, which cost an astounding 1100 pesos for two. We had paid slightly less for a great dinner and cenote swim the evening before at Zazil Tunich, which might real be the best cenote in Valladolid, so were shocked by the truly dreadful, cafeteria-style food at Chukum. Everything had been blanded down — apparently for presumed American or European tastes — and was tasteless, overcooked, and under-spiced. The food is plentiful, if that’s all you care about, but you’d have to eat a lot to make it worth what they make you pay. Really, they ought to be ashamed to serve food that mediocre. If you’re in the area, you might want to experience the cenote, but eat anywhere else.

Amazing staff and location for your cenote experience!! My wife left a review regarding an Apple Watch that was lost. They found it and sent it back to the resort 2 hours away… all without asking for tips or money… so hard to find this level of service these days. Can’t recommend them enough!

Amazing Cenote, best one so far. If you go early, there is nobody. Beautiful water and zip line free too use. Even diving is possible. Blub blub

Very cool. The water is very clear and they have other activities in the cenote besides just swimming. Clean bathrooms, excellent service. We had so much fun!

We highly recommend this place for the fun, food, cleanliness and amazing staff. They went above and beyond to make it an experience of lifetime. While we were there it was great time until my daughter jumped and dropped her Apple Watch in water. I contacted the owner next day and they told me that it would cost to have someone dive and retrieve the Watch. After 2 days I received another message from owner with a picture of my Watch and telling me that they retrieved it during a free dive. We had already left the country but they sent the Watch back to hotel we were staying at with the tour guide next day. Our Watch was picked up by rest of the family that was still there. It’s a must visit place, water is clean and refreshingly cool.

Our visit was quick, but we are so glad to have stopped here! The zip line was being actively worked on/repaired when we visited in early May, so didn't get to try that. The jump platforms were fun, and the water felt amazing after getting hot climbing the steps at the Ek Balam ruins. Definitely recommend a visit here! The walls of the cenote and the water were beauitful!
