Cenotes Sac Actún - 77760 Tulum

Cenote Sac Actún is at the end of a long and windy road and you pass quite a few cenotes on your way there, but do not be tempted to pass this one up in favor of a closer one, because it is 100% worth it. Sac Actún is one cenote of many in this massive cave system filled with stalagtites, stalagmites, fish, and breathtaking caverns. It is one of the pricier cenote experiences (at about 650 pesos per person for the communal tour) but that gets you a 1- 1.5 hr guided tour through the cenote, a wet suit, snorkel, mask and a flashlight. Our guide, Carlos, was a wealth of knowledge, and the experience itself was nothing short of breathtaking! It is also one of the less crowded cenotes, which was a definite plus.

Absolutely beautiful cenote! You can only enter with a guide, which means you don't feel like people are on top of you and you can ask questions and learn alot! Entry was about $35 US each, and included a guide, and shorty wetsuit. I highly recommend to go early, we got a personal tour for the 2 of us for a group rate since no one else was there at the time. Our guide also had 2 flashlights for us to use, so didn't have to share.

About a 60-90 minute underwater cave snorkeling tour. They put you in a wetsuit & lifejacket and you have a tour guide that leads you through the cave. In my opinion, the best cenote in Tulum & the crowds is very mellow compared to the rest of the cenotes. When turning down the street you will get stopped at the gate with men trying to upsell you a tour but tell them no and that you are just going to Sac Actun. At the cenote, they will try to upsell you to a private tour but say no. We went with a group & it was fine, and we made some friends. For two people it was about $62. They sell underwater phone cases too that we bought allowed us to take photos on the tour. This was such a fun experience I recommend it to anyone traveling in Tulum.

GO! ASK FOR ESA!!!!! GET A FLASHLIGHT! This may be the most interesting, unique, stunning place I've ever been. I didn't find the water to be cold at all and didn't need a wetsuit, but I could see it being helpful simply for buoyancy - 45 minutes a long time to tread water, even with a life vest. We brought our own snorkels and masks because Covid = ew. No fins allowed. The cave feels like two worlds: one above water and one below. The ceiling is usually very low; sometimes only inches away. The bottom of the cave drops away for what seems like hundreds of feet. We drove our rental to the site and were given a private tour because only the two of us were there. How cool is that?! Because it was the two of us and our guide - Esa - we had a very different experience than visitors with larger groups. Esa was funny and informative. He's working on his English and I speak a lot of Spanish so we had a good time talking in addition to the beautiful tour. Pictures cannot possibly do Cenote Sac'Actun justice. Having been to quite a few (and loved them all), this is THE cenote to visit in Mexico. Drive right on past Dos Ojos and head to Sac Actun.

If you can only go to one cenote, this is the one. We did an hour tour and it was amazing. Huge cave system with cold water made for an interesting experience.

Such a great experience. We were afraid of swimming so Issa our tour guide, let us latch on to his life jacket and took us through the whole cavern!!! The new stalactites, bats, little fish everything was phenomenal.You can snorkel a bit too to check the Definitely take the life jackets and wet suit, since most of the cenote is underwater. The total cost is 650pesos/35$ per person as of April 2022. The experience and service value is way beyond the price.

Amazing! Beautiful cave cenote, with crystal clear waters and incredible rock formations (estalactites, estalagmites and marine fossils). Guided tour with groups of up to 10 people cost MX$650 or US$35 per person, and it lasts between 45 to 60 minutes. We got there early, and there’s a tolerance of 20 minutes for a group to form, the group leaves with the people who arrived in these 20 minutes (mine had only 5 people in total).

We had a really wonderful time! We definitely recommend wearing a wetsuit (they are optional but we were all shivering a bit by the end of 90 min!). The cave is so beautiful, the guides are all friendly and speak multiple languages. We had 6 people total in our party so some areas were a tight fit but we made it work. I think for the amount you are able to see and the experience of swimming inside the cave it is totally worth it! The group that runs this also takes good care of the land, and clearly has pride in it. The grounds are kept up nicely with lots of orchids planted, and they have respect for the local birds- ask to see the Mayan 'Toe' bird nest in the wall of the cave!
