★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a UNESCO World Heritage site! Definitely worth a visit. Would be even better for guide to explain what does each of the mural means.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We didn’t go inside, but great to photograph and set in a nice campus feel.
The campus as a whole is a UNESCO heritage site, but the library is the stand out building (incidentally the easiest to reach from the city centre too).
There are campus busses to get around, but be aware they don’t run very frequently (if at all) on weekends during holidays! We ended up walking a lot to see the length of the campus.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The mural paintings of the library are very visible. There is a free circulation bus stop in front of the end point of line 3 of the subway line Universidad station. You can see the students looking serious if you walk. The future of Mexico is bright!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was excited to visit this library with my wife who is a student at UNAM. However, they wouldn't let me inside due to me not being a student. It doesn't feel very community orientated and the staff at the door were quite rude about it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Central Library of the National Autonomous University of Mexico offers for visitors two main attractions, both are murals by Mexican XXth century preeminent painters, David Alfaro Siqueiros (1896-1974) and Juan O'Gorman (1905-1982).
The mural by Siqueiros, called "El pueblo a la universidad, la universidad al pueblo" (The People for the University and the University for the People), inaugurated in 1956, didn't strike us as very impressive. The one by O'Gorman, known as the "Historical Representation of Culture", finished in 1953, is, however, an amazing feat of creative artistry. Not only it is breathtaking in size and mastery, but it covers the entire building from every side. We would strongly advise you tour it with a guide or do your homework, for the mural is extremely rich in symbols and pictorial representation of various aspects of Mexican history, folklore, pre-Columbian beliefs, and various sociopolitical events of the country.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A UNESCO world heritage site, the design is unique and the way it was done was even more special. As far as libraries go however, it's actually quite small.
