Central Merida is an Extremely COLORFUL & CALM PLACE. There IS ALWAYS something interesting to discover. The people are genuinely kind & RESOURCEFUL. The jewelry is amazing as are all of most of the handmade crafts. There are many imports from China BUT THE LOCAL CRAFTS OUT NUMBER the imports and are durable. Night activities are cultural experiences (dancers, small dramatic plays/ enactments) of Merida’s history, Mexican history, and of course the history of the Mayans/Aztecs/ Spanish and other interesting pieces of history. One could visit Central Merida for six months and NOT see or discover all the gems of the city. The ICE CREAM is EXTREMELY DELICIOUS & ALL NATURAL. There is much more to Merida than what you see on the surface. What appears to be an average building on the exterior is more than likely filled with Exquisite beautifully decorated historical items and workmanship. There are MANY modern amenities just behind closed doors. SLOW DOWN, ENJOY THE CITY!!
