You always have to go on horseback or walk with an official guide and try to contaminate as little as possible since on the way there are traces of disposable cups or water bottles.

✔️Tips: Llevar agua?, gorra, bloqueador solar, buenos tenis? o zapatos? y mucha ?condición física.
The whole journey to the Cerro del Burned is great, the views are amazing, we walked from the center of town with the help of the gentleman Mr. Gonzalo Martínez who led us to the road, you can ask for him in the town, approximately they are 4 hrs round trip, bring water and snacks. We found a dog that followed some people from the village, he hit us and we brought him back to the center, we gave him food and water.

Attention: this site is a sacred place for the Wixárikas, so respect must be respected at all times both for the people who come up to pray and for the offerings that are found in various spaces. The walk from Real de Catorce takes between an hour and an hour and a half, depending on the physical condition of the person who climbs. It may take even longer. I suggest wearing comfortable shoes and water, as well as a good coat in cold season. The view from El Quemado is impressive. There is a clear vision of the Wirikuta, a sacred desert for the Wixárikas. I was able to witness the sunrise from the top of the hill, at 3,800 meters above sea level, which leaves anyone stunned. It is a personal and spiritual experience like few others in Mexico, even more so if the Wixárika ceremony was practiced before starting the climb.

Atop Cerro del Quemado in Real de Catorce, I met Fabiola, a Huichol. The Huichol are an indigenous people living in the mountains in México. Fabiola and other Huichol people take it in turns to hike to the peak of Cerro del Quemado, where they make and sell colorful jewelry.

A must see if you come to the area but you already know that. I strongly recommend doing the hike instead of going by horse. You will enjoy better the place, you can stay at the top all the time you want and if you go with a horse tour they only stop like 20 min at the top. Be sure to bring enough water because there's no chance to buy there. Besides, the hike is very rocky so, bring good hiking shoes.
