★ ★ ★ ★ ★ How this place has less than 5 stars is puzzling. Chedraui Isla Mujeres is simply a miracle…a full service grocery store, a gourmet destination, a luxury alcohol shop… in the middle of the ocean.
On top of this friendly clerks, great hours, a refuge from aggressive selling. Also prices that I am willing to pay.
If it weren’t for this place in Mexico I would have gone crazy. Sanity with a side of cheese, Spanish ham, and Mezcal!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In the context of how small and touristy (so not people who’d usually use a grocery store) Isla Mujeres is, I was very impressed by Chedraui. It’s selection of cheeses and charcuterie far exceeded the much larger H‑E‑B groceries I have at home. Pair this with their super extensive selection of rare mezcals and you’ve got the recipe for an extremely fun and fancy night-in.
Also, don’t sleep on their vegetable and beef stir fries in the frozen section— and their red marinated pork flanks in the meat section. And.. if you’re extremely lucky.. the local delicacy of fresh huitlacoche (corn smut) will be in season and available in Produce. It looks like death but when sautéed with butter has an otherworldly taste somewhere between morel mushrooms and corn, good enough to eat by itself on rice.
This place was responsible for most of our best eating moments on Isla Mujeres!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s the largest grocery store on the island and has food, pharmacy, electronics, snacks, stuff for the beach, even souvenirs. They also have a few atms by check out. Bring your own bags or buy them there if you need them.
In covid times they will temperature check you as you enter, use sanitizer, and you should have your mask. It seems obvious but every time we have gone someone ahead of us doesn’t get it ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Possibly the only big super market in Isla Mujeres. Seems well stocked with reasonable prices. Food bakery section. Lots of fruits and vegetables, alcohol and almost everything else.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Biggest Commercialized Market on the Island. Not sure how much of the money goes back to supporting the local community since it’s a chain store, but if you’re looking to stock up food and toiletries in a vacation home for a week or two this should be your first stop. It’s modeled similarly to a small Walmart, food court, pharmacy, electronics section, groceries, clothing, they even sell motorcycles starting around 800USD. Bring your own bags.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chedraui is the large grocery store/ get all in one place store, its like a small walmart back in the US. We wanted to go here just to get a variety of snacks to bring back to our room and not eat out as much. We went three times and every time the worker were friendly but when it comes to check out, it only seems to be two cashiers open at a time which makes the lines very long. The store was clean compared to other store we entered and to us, the prices were pretty good compared to back home in the US. You had to or really encourage you to wear a mask while in the store which we did. We both liked this store as you can get most of your needs in one location. Recommended.
