The rooms were large, but without any character. Many amenities that are almost necessities in Mexico, like AC and a fridge, are lacking. The location is great, right off the main highway, but the road to the resort is bumpy and needs a makeover. The restaurant food was mediocre at best and some of the waiters were very unprofessional.

To all those who complain, if you cant handle the bare minimum. Just stay home... This place is great with honest and humble staff. I will return again to rest here after my adventures.

In the middle of the jungle so you can hear lots of birds. Rooms were large, bathroom fine. Pool needs a little love. WiFi slow, but hey you are there to enjoy the jungle! So that’s fine. Restaurant dinner was good. Breakfast was ok, could change the table mats, they were a bit dirty. Boxed lunch was excellent.

We've stayed here for one night and that was more than enough. To start off, the beds are extremely hard, almost like wood. There was no warm water, insects could just come in the room and service was not friendly. There was really (really) slow internet only at the restaurant and the pool was very dirty. The only positive was the food, which tasted good.

Time to be with nature without cellphone. Room is ok with rustic feeling. No aircon, luckily it was cool enough with fan. Internet is available at the lobby and restaurant, though is very slow. Food at restaurant is alright. What I enjoyed the most was Bird-watching tower. In the morning it was very relaxing to go up and listen to the sound of nature. The air was very clean there. Be careful of the bad shape wooden fence, do not lean against it.

This is going to be the most accurate review anyone gets... 1. If you are In a jungle.. there WILL be bugs (lots of them). And they may come in your room. Its nature. Yes, Mexico has scorpions.. and yes, check your bed before sleeping in it. It's part of life here in the jungle. (the jungle does not exempt anyone) 2. It's Mexico (Not the U.S.A) which means because all these towns and villages are small they are not fully developed and I hope they never do.. so Yes, power will go out.. because power is a luxury out here. 3.Its the jungle so it's going to be hot as hell. We are Very close to the equator. So, if you don't like the heat well, maybe visiting Yucatan is not for you. And No, there isnt Air conditioning.. this is a small place and can't handle the use of so much power which means Yes, power will go out. Oh, and no TV.. (we don't go on vacation to watch TV) 4. Yes, the beds are very firm. This is the way most beds are in mexico. Just imagine the people in those towns that you pass on your fancy rental.. im sure they wish they had those mattresses. 5. If stuff isnt spotless, guess what? Water and piping in Mexico is not the same as other counties. So cleaning may not be to everyone's standards but it's still pretty damn clean to me. 6. Staff is great. They got up early just to make us breakfast. 5. So yes, if you like being in nature and seeing what it is like actually being in nature then this is the place for you. It's quiet, it's cute, the road is underdeveloped, no TV distractions. Just you and mother nature. So if you like always having your way then this is not the place for you and maybe you should be planning a luxury trip to Hawaii instead.

Kind staff, discrete service. Big, clean rooms with a very pleasant atmosphere. Huge king bed, on the firm side, just as we like. The bug net on windows super efficient, we never found a single critter anywhere in our room, plus there are small geckos to hunt for any bug that may sneaked in. Pool a great addition for relaxing after a hot day on the ruins. Good food and amazing juices in the restaurant. No TVs anywhere, thankfully. We did not expect wifi, but it was actually quite solid. Amazing birds to see and hear in the forest around. What else can one need in the forest?

We stayed 2 nights at the Chicanna eco village resort. The location is good to visit ruins nearly and also the ruins from Calakmul. The staff at the hotel was very nice and friendly. The food in the restaurant is good as well as the service. Also a few comments, there were only 3 (old and kind of dirty) chairs next to the swimming pool. Also the general condition of the hotel could have been better. It seems it's in an older state and could use some upgrade.
