★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We ate here twice, both times delicious. We had: whole grilled fish, Mayan style (you should definitely try this,. amazing). A very tasty garlic octopus dish. And then the day after, the chef's 'piece de resistance'.. a 2 person king crab dish. Filled with different seafoods. Fries, rice and covered in a delicious cheddar/chihuahua cheese sauce ?. The vibe is relaxed and the staff is super friendly ??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fernando and his family are amazing!!! The food, service and view can NOT be beat! His beach area is well kept and he provides loungers, chairs and tables. Plenty of sun or shade and the drinks are THE BOMB! Highly recommend especially if you love authentic fresh Mexican food.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Accidentally discovered the Chunky Monkey while exploring via golf cart. Needless to say next time we are at this port we won’t even bother renting a golf cart, I would just take a taxi straight here. We aren’t the big party type of people and this place was perfect! It’s run/owned by a father and son and they just opened at the end of 2021. The service is phenomenal and the food is amazing. They make everything fresh and have access to pretty much anything that comes out of the ocean from local fishermen. My wife still raves about their margaritas. We spent all day here eating and drinking and the bill was $84. My wife thought there had been a mistake considering how much we had bought.
If you want a truly local place, stop here, skip the places that they try to push you into at the port.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome food and great service! During a stop on our cruise, we rented a golf cart and drove into the town area of Mahahual. Found Chunky Monkey and ate some great food. My daughter had a steak burrito. Very fresh, tasted delicious, very large portion, homemade tortilla. I had a chicken burrito, way more than I could eat, all freshly made. Chips and salsa were awesome. Please visit this establishment!! Friendly servers and cute puppy dog. Thank you for the great lunch.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were on a cruise to Costa Maya and took a golf cart ride to see some sites. We got a flat tire and we stopped at the Chunky Monkey for some drinks while we wait for a tire. They were so accommodating and called for help for us while we enjoyed the cocktails. Now the drinks were spectacular and their hospitality was wonderful. Very reasonable prices. Thank you Fernando and your crew!!
