M	Mel Figueroa on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hermosa iglesia Seguramente hemos escuchado hablar de la vida de San Antonio de Papua, de sus milagros, y de su santidad, pero podríamos preguntarnos ¿porqué se venera en este pueblo a san Antonio de Papua?. Desde 1847 en que es construida una pequeña capilla para la celebración de la misa, se pone a san Antonio de Papua como protector de esta comunidad. Por la historia, Sabemos que los frailes misioneros siempre que llegaban a evangelizar a una comunidad la ponían bajo la protección de un Santo. La parroquia de polotitlán fue puesta bajo el patrocinio de san Antonio de Papua oficialmente el día 27 de Septiembre del año 1907 que fue elevada al rango de parroquia. Desde entonces ha venido celebrándose la fiesta en honor a San Antonio el día 13 de Junio, porque es el día en que murió. Por la fama de santidad que tenía, toda la gente decía: “ha muerto un santo”. Las fiestas han tenido variaciones año con año, pues la creatividad de las personas siempre se deja ver, algunos años es muy vistosa en algunos aspectos y otras veces se ha visto muy austera. A 100 años de haber sido erigida parroquia, Polotitlán ha vivido cambios que le han llevado a ser un pueblo de gente noble y entusiasta. Sus visitantes ven con admiración la construcción de su Iglesia que ha sido restaurada en la parte externa ( la fachada y el atrio). En los últimos dos años la feria y la fiesta patronal, es organizada por un comité en coordinación con el párroco y desde luego la colaboración de todos los feligreses de la cabecera parroquial así como la ayuda incondicional del H. Ayuntamiento. Año con año les invitamos a participar de los distintos eventos culturales, artísticos y religiosos que nuestra parroquia les ofrece a todos los que quieran visitarnos, serán bienvenidos.
