City Car Rental - 77569 Cancún

Wonderful service, I had booked with another company that cancelled at the last minute, however we contacted City Car Rental and they got us a car for our visit in Cancun. Wonderful service.

I had a great experience with Emilio at City Car Rental. Price was good, car was clean and ran great. They picked me up at the airport and brought me back when finished. Nice guys. Went from Cancun airport to Tulum with no worries and car was excellent. I will be back.

Well that was bad. Maybe cheaper than airport-based company but not worth it. Car was old and not well maintained (100 000km) and the battery died on day 5, stranding us in the middle of yucatan. We managed on our own to get help to bring the car to the hotel and when calling the company they told us it is going to be ok. Had to convinced them (took them an hour to understand the situation) and they drove a car to us to replace ours. But it took them 4h30 to do the 2h30 to get to us, and asked us to wait for them at the hotel while not giving us update on when they ll arrive. We waited for them 2hours with no news. We wasted a whole afternoon +evening and they barely gave us an apology. The replacement car? Well was not in good shape either so I guess all their car are like this. Absolutely do NOT recommend. Never again.

This is one of the few car rental agencies in Mexico, which is very helpful and very honest. The prices were good, the attention was great and the follow up was very professional. I send my regards to all the team that gave me a car in good condition and very safe.

5+ star experience!! Couldn't have been any better!! I did ALOT of research about renting a car in Mexico and ultimately only felt comfortable reserving with City Car Rental. They had the best reviews. Their company was the only one that could give me a clear answer on the security deposit amount and requirements. The live chat option on the site made communication easy. I felt confident leaving for our trip knowing we would have a rental car ready for us. We began receiving communications as soon as our flight landed and it was so easy to meet up with the representative. He quickly got us to the rental location which was only minutes away. Francisco helped us at the desk and made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. We were given waters. Everyone was following covid safety protocols. The cost and deposit were as quoted (the lowest I found!). Every employee was transparent and friendly. Our car was a basic rental, a few scuffs and dings but otherwise in great condition, everything works properly and got us around safely and was dependable. Francisco checked us out quickly and easily again on our last day and we were taken to the airport for our flight.

We have rented from this business three times during past trips to Cancún. The service usually has always been great and their rental vehicles (for the price) are generally satisfactory. However, this last time we rented was not the same type of experience. We were given a vehicle with an empty gas tank at the time of pickup, and stressed until we got to a gas station to fill up. Literally the gas gauge was below "E". I've never experienced that before from any rental car company. The tires were not bald, but the tread depth was very low and driving the vehicle in rain or on wet streets ended up being extremely dangerous. Most large rental companies replace tired regularly because of liability and get don't want to be sued in court if they were found liable for an accident that caused serious injury or death. However, this company doesn't seem too worried about this liability risk. Sadly, for the safety of their customers alone, they should. This may be why they run this small business out of a camper in cinder blocks also (See other reviews and pictures). Lastly, I had an unexpected change to travel plans because of government restrictions and had to returns to the United States 5 days earlier than planned. This would cut my 30 day rental about 15% shorter than anticipated. The company tried to declare that the last 5 days of the rental they gave me for free so I would receive no refund for the prorated amount. I was able to report this to my credit card company who gladly disputed the amount and charged back the difference when I showed them my return receipt with date and time, but I no longer trust this company anymore. It's sad because I would likely have continued to rent from them every time I come to Cancún if their service and quality had not slipped so much. I tend to be a faithful patron and prefer to always take my business to the same place. Now I'm looking for another company to rent from during my annual trips to Cancún. I certainly do not recommend placing your trust in this business. I was deeply disappointed.

The absolute BEST staff! I scheduled airport pickup for 11:30am but our flight was delayed AND my phone had died so I had no way to update them. At 12:45 I walked out of the airport and city car rental was front & center calling my name. I was so thankful that they waited for me and honestly couldn’t believe it. We waited about 30 minutes for their shuttle to pick us up (they had picked up other people too so waiting 30 min was beyond acceptable). Once we got to the rental office Francisco greeted us with bottled water, made copies of my license, and I signed two papers before I was out the door. The car was perfect and had no issues. We returned the car in the same condition as we got it (no trash, dirt, damages, etc) so the checkout process was smooth and easy! Our deposit was released 2 days after we left. Francisco and his staff were so good to us and made our trip so much easier, I definitely recommend city car rental 100%!
