★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Silva's stand at the Bacalar Market is a great place to try the local speciality Cochinita pibil (basically Mexican pulled pork). It's open in the morning on Saturdays and Sundays - come early because the queue for this delicacy is long and they do run out. I was there at 9am and waited for about 25 minutes; worth it! I bought 500g of meat for 120$pesos, plus two small breads for 5$. Salsa verde and pickled onions come with for free. You can also find fresh tortillas on the other side of the building, I paid 4(!) pesos for 200g. Then go home, and make your own cochinita pibil tacos and tortas! Best brunch there is.
