★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We booked a trip for 3 of us to Chichén Itzá. The van arrived at our hotel, but they did not have our name on the list, so we were not able to go. We went back to Cocos Tours that night and asked for our deposit back. First we were told that the guy that had our money originally was in a terrible car accident and that's why our names weren't on the list, and they didn't know if he was going to survive. THEN they said the boss that had our money would be there at 5pm. He wasn't there. We came back at 9pm. Then the story was that he would be there at midnight all the while knowing that our shuttle back to our hotel was leaving at 9:20pm. We were leaving Cancun to come home the next day and couldn't re-book a tour. The man was extremely rude and was just coming up with story after story because they did not want to give us our deposit of $66 back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely awful company. Luis Sosa completely ripped me and my family off. We basically ended up paying $129 to walk around Isla mujeres after apparently are original tour was cancelled due to the port being closed. The ferry port was however still open. Luis Sosa knew the port was closed since the day before but didn’t bother calling us to tell us this and instead made us come out to the port before telling us the tour was cancelled. He then put us on what I can only call the worst tour of my life for the same amount of money. I have a feeling that the original tour was overbooked and that’s why they made up the excuse that the port was closed. How can the ferry which is smaller than the tour boar still run? Anyway anybody reading this, these people in this company are a bunch of frauds...do not book anything with them. We demanded our money back and the best they offered us was 15$. These guys have no website so I’m really hoping that people read these google reviews before using any tour company. I’ve learned my lesson now as I can see there are many bad reviews here already. Anyone from Mexico reading this, esta empresa es muy mala, nunca uses.

My husband and I came to Cancun for the first time for our honeymoon. We arrived at the clubbing district near Coco Bongo on Boulevard Kukulcan Km 9.5, and was approached by a member of the Cocos Tours Co. His name was David Romero (also known as Pinguino or Penguin).
We bought an excursion from him and made a deposit on the spot for $44usd or $22usd per person. We booked our trip for the following day. Pick up was at 9:10 am, we waited for an hour in front of our hotel and the bus didn't show up. We called the company and contact info. there was no answer.
The following day we came to the booth to tell them what happened. Penguin was at the both but immediately ran off after telling us he conveniently left his phone in a taxi. Leaving Alex, another rep. to deal with our complaint.
Alex called the booking company to find out what happened. Then told us that he'd take care of it and will ask the "other company" for our deposit refund and for us to come back the next day.
The next day we came back to find out that Alex didn't have our deposit. He said that the bus did come at 7 am but there was no show on our part. This is obviously a big lie because the voucher receipt said for 9:10am pick up time and we waited for an hour. He made up some lie to tell us that it was raining that morning when in fact it wasn't which was the reason why the bus left.
We asked to see proof of the pick up schedule but he dodged the answer by telling us to come back the next day for the 3rd time again because the supervisor for the "other company" was not available and he was not authorized to refund the money. He said they were closing shop early for a staff party.
My husband and I got so pissed and felt very cheated by this company. We keep hearing all excuses and lies that didn't add up from one rep to another. We told Alex that we no longer want the deposit back at this point when knowing very well that they are giving us a hard time intentionally to tire us out or until we have to fly home.
As the previous review mentioned, we felt the company was scamming us for the deposit by buying time until we have to leave. They never gave us a straight answer but kept pushing us to another rep. and telling us to come back the next day.
They have a strategy and do this on purpose to get your money.
Please do not ever buy from this company!!!! Scammers!!!!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ These people are CROOKS!!!!!! They stole our money and had a million & one excuses on why they couldn’t refund a service we didn’t receive! We Dealt with the so called owner David Romero & Brian! David advised us to go back where we bought the tour( hotel zone near coco bongo) to receive our money back. When we arrived no one was there. We called and waited 30 minutes for someone to get there. Long story short Brian, the dude we bought the tour from basically said it would take 6 days to get the money back. He knew we were leaving in next two days. He said he could give us 30 dollars back now, but we had to come back tonight so he could make a few sales. I asked him HOW ARE YOU RUNNING A BUSINESS, BUT HAVE ZERO MONEY TO REFUND YOUR CUSTOMERS. It was a joke. I finally got tired of arguing with the dude and left. If I could give them zero stars I would. My advice to everyone is to not buy any activities in Cancun on the side of the street. Yes, you may save money, but theres a big chance of it not being legit. Always pre-book online with a card & do your research & look up reviews. Two company worth your time: aquaworld & extreme tours. You can google ‘ATV TOURS Cancún’ & they will pop up! Anyway, We did an amazing ATV tour with ATV TOURS(extreme tours) they had amazing reviews and we pre-booked with them. They had amazing communication and live up to our expectations. We also purchased a really good deal with a company called aquaworld also very professional, due to the weather this activity was canceled & by the way they refunded our money down to the last penny. Due to this being canceled we made the big mistake of purchasing a “160$ Isla Mujeres excursion” for two people. We paid for a tour that we NEVER RECEIVED! Don’t make the foolish mistake we did. Side note I never leave reviews, but I felt I would be doing a injustice if I didn’t. You live and learn & I plan on traveling all around the world, so this was definitely a valuable lesson. Btw tourism is a big part of Mexico economy. If companies like COCO Tours want to continue to have people come and spend their American dollar then they need to STOP scamming people. These people wasted our whole day waiting for a tour we didn’t get and wasted our day giving us the run around. They Ruined the last two days of our trip. I won’t be back to Mexico. Hope this helps.

We paid for a trip and had a 7AM pick up, we waited for the staff to pick us up - waited 1 hour at the pick up location for nothing.
Went back to the place they sold us the tour and they refused to give a refund and had no explanation for us!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Definitely wish I would have read the reviews before getting a tour from them, absolutely horrible experience.
We booked a whale shark tour from them for myself and three others and had to leave a 116$ deposit. We were scheduled to be picked up at 6:45 the next day, no one showed up.
We called the number and they answered and said they don’t speak English and they’d have someone else call back, ten minutes later we call back and find our number had been blocked, so we asked a taxi driver for help, he called and they hung up on him, he tried to call back and he was blocked.
Obviously no one was showing so we went and booked another trip through aqua adventures that was awesome!
Anyways we called and called and later we went to the booth and they said “oh the harbor was closed, we texted you” which they absolutely did not.
We tried to get our money back and they said you need to come back at 6:30 and talk to Oscar.
Oscar wasn’t there we were told to come back at 9, then they said they had no money in the shop and we needed to come back at midnight and they’d refund us the money, but of course we were sleeping then.
We tried to go back the next day and they said “it takes 3 days for the other company to give back the deposit so come back in 3 days and get your money back” but we were leaving before then.
Absolutely horrible. Thieves. They’ll steal your money and lie to you about it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worst experience with any tour company I've ever had. Paid a good amount of money for a tour and was given bad pickup information. When we missed the your they refused to give a refund based off THEIR bad information and mistake. When confronted everyone said it was not their fault and that there other employee was a list. Would only give a "refund" after 3-5 days knowing we would be back in the USA. very unprofessional, rude and disrespectful. For your own sake do not EVER use this "agency" only one good review and ironically enough... It's one of their guides.
