We found this restaurant walking to the beach from El Cielo. It is amazing!! The food, staff and atmosphere is beautiful! You also have to try the margaritas!

This review is for the hotel/bunglaws and not primarily for the restaurant. Do not get fooled by the good rating for the restaurant and book rooms here. We are a young couple traveling to Mexico for the first time. Pro: Very quiet and calm. Small property that lends to its coziness. Cons: This is so far away from the city with such limited means of transportation that it should not be called Playa Del Carmen. You cannot walk and take any kind of public transportation. You always have to ask the hotel to call a cab whenever you want to go anywhere, which is inefficient and would cost you a lot. Otherwise, you have to rent your own car which is expensive and not advisable in a foreign country. There is nothing to do around the property. There are long empty roads with nothing but other mega resorts. The WiFi doesn't reach the rooms, but only around the pool area. When they advertised the hotel having Wifi, I was misled into thinking that the rooms have wifi too. Food in the restaurant was pretty meh. Granted, we don't eat meat and the options are very limited, but even then the pizzas we nothing to rave about. The water in bathrooms are so salty, you can sense it without even tasting them. Salt water is BAD for skin and hair. I repeat, it is EXTREMELY DAMAGING for skin and hair. You cannot expect us to buy 200ml water bottles for 30 peso every time we want to wash face/take bath. Overall the vibe at the place felt right for someone who is retired (older) and doesn't like moving around. There isn't much to do at the property either. We paid 500+ USD for five nights and had to forfeit it and leave after just one day because it felt so horrible, and we didn't want to ruin our entire holiday because of it.

We stayed 3 nights here and it was an absolute gem. Both the restaurant and cabanas get 5 stars (more if possible!). It is a little jungle oasis, 1 minute from the beach. For the food, the shrimp fajitas are to die for and you get delicious salsa and chips with your table. Their margarita was one of the best we had! The owners were so nice, and provide you with beach chairs if you don't want to pay for a beach club. Pool and common area are great, Wi-Fi strong enough to do some home office in the morning. I wish we stayed there longer!!

We've been here several times since we moved to Playa as our friends love it. The staff are always friendly and very happy to veganise our meals which are good. Compared to other non vegan restaurants in the area, the food is tasty and consistent, but the price is higher which I've never had an issue with as I believe in supporting small family business which need to make money. Unfortunately our last visit and the reason for the 3 starts, at the end of an enjoyable lunch with friends we decided to have coffee, one single espresso and one double espresso, I wish I had asked for the menu to see the price but at $210 for the 2, $70 for the single and $140 for the double I was shocked. You wouldn't pay that in some of the best coffee shops in the UK or Australia, which use fresh coffee beans. And just to be clear, it's wasn't great. I think they use Nespresso pods. Go for the food, not the coffee and triple check the price before ordering.

Cute small hotel with a nice pool and friendly staff. Lamb stew was excellent but my friend's fettuccine with large shrimp came with coconut shrimp. Breakfast included delicious fruit but the orange juice was made from a powder and gas stations have better pastries. The wood holding up the hammock broke so my neck landed on the concrete covered by 1 cm of sand. The lady who appeared to be the owner but never properly introduced herself offered to send me to a doctor but I told her I already made an appointment to see a chiropractor. The other hammocks will eventually break since they are just held up by screws going into wood. They need to be reinforced. The futon was actually a daybed with a raised piece of wood going down the middle covered by a thin mattress. No door to the bathroom or toilet from the bedroom.

Incredible food and perfect service. The servers didn't hover, but noticed when the bugs were bothering me and brought me bug repellant. The drinks were fabulous too. The atmosphere was fantastic, didn't even realise the music being played was a live saxophone player until I looked around. So glad I'm staying nearby as I'll be back again. If you're lucky and come on the right night, Marley might join you for dinner. Quiet, comfortable and homely.

Good food. Comfortable environment after we walked down the "back street" entrance from our hotel next door. We had an excellent salad (hard to come by in Mexico) and the shrimp fajitas we would recommend. We had an excellent flan. Recommended.

Beautiful place somewhere on the far side of Playa del Carmen. it is very quiet there, but rather small. Although the latter contributes to the charms of the place. The hostess and all other hosts are very kind and will help you with any questions you have. The rooms (cabañas) are beautiful and makes you feel like you are in the jungle. But you still have all the luxury you need. The restaurant is also small, but the dishes are very delicious.
