Cometa Café - 70947 Mazunte

One of the only coffee shops in Mazunte which has pour over & drip methods: V60, Chemex, Sifón Japonés, Aeropress, French Press and Clever. They also sell beans if you want to take some home.

Really don’t know where I’d be without this place... owner manager (I’m horrid w/ names) is the sweetest guy but more importantly, he knows good coffee!... always super hospitable... feels like family type vibe.. staff is great too and the manager gal “night”.. (again, names) is probably my favorite food n bev host in the country... she’s fantastic.. Thanks Team CC

Awful service and overpriced, made me the wrong tea and told me I was wrong when I told them it wasn’t herbal. When I asked them nicely to change it they told me I could pay for another one. Won’t go back and don’t recommend it. Coffee might be good but cafes are in the service industry and their service is beyond awful.

We had high hopes for good specialty coffe judging by the reviews but were disappointed. The cold brew was waaay to strong and tasted as if it was just a regular coffee with some ice thrown into it, v60 was a bit better but nothing above average, hence the average score.

I never write negative reviews but our experience here was so terrible that I felt like I couldn’t leave without sharing. I’ll start with what is good and that is the coffee. Undeniably, the coffee is great. However, I have a lot more to say which unfortunately is the reason why I can’t possibly give this place more than 1 star. The service is probably the worst and strangest that we have ever come across. Firstly, the women were nice to me at all times but then they started giving evils to my girlfriend. This duplicity was amusing for a while, before after a week it turned to hostility. We stayed a while with our laptops, but spent more than enough on food and drinks. Their policy on laptop use was always ambiguous, and expressed passive-aggressively by cutting out the Wi-Fi at random moments. What was quite telling was how they targeted my girlfriend after I left. She stayed an extra hour after we spent over 400 pesos, and they immediately pressured her and made her feel unwelcome by telling her she had to buy something to stay, when she had ordered soon before that. Again, we had spent plenty that day over their ‘50 peso minimum.’ Eventually she had to leave. When I found out, I was not surprised, and knew exactly why it happened. Another reviewer mentioned the same treatment of his girlfriend, so clearly there is something against women being perpetrated by women at this place. So it absolutely deserves a mention. From refusing to serve her by pretending to count the money, to singling her out with constant harsh stares and cold treatment, aggressively cleaning the table around her when it was not needed, overcharging her, making her hesitant to order our coffees and asking me to do it, to eventually forcing her to feel unwelcome and leave - this is absolutely unacceptable. Maybe you’ll have a great experience here if you don’t trigger the staff, since we noticed other women getting very loving treatment. If you decide to come here as a woman, just hope you fall on the ‘right’ side of the line, whatever that is.

Definitely a favorite for me here in Mazunte! I started every day with a Latte and pastry! Latte art is perfect, everyone who works here is so nice, pastries are delicious! Free WiFi, this place is a must do hangout!

Great ambiance and excellent for people watching (which is what you’ll want to do in mazunte). Coffee is strong!!! Chill vibe.

Personally loved it. Great drink choice. Super friendly staff. Good wifi. Super airy which is so nice on real hot days. Could pay with card without any surcharge which is rare here
