★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very charming colonial town an hour from Mazatlan. Lots of interesting history here including the French attempting to burn the town and church to the ground in a hunt for some Mexican Generals in the mid 1800's. They were met with resistance by a woman, Encarnacion Valdez who was hanged and is now memorialized with a statue in the central square and a street named after her.
