Pictures are professional taken the pool is tiny and not for lap swimming. The apt is like a motel utilitarian and like a safe house. However It's convenient and the guys Rogelio and Roberto are very nice and curtious. Best thing is it's cheap and cheerful close to neighborhood restaurants and 10 min bike ride to anything worth while.

I liked the neighborhood, the apartment looked nice even if not the newest appliances but there was an issue with the hot water.

Don’t rent or Airbnb here. They are scammers and only want your money. We rented 2108 here from the owner Frencesca and the real estate agent Perla. From the get go, they were unprofessional and charged us contract fee but there was no notary or lawyer involved. When they handed over the place to us, it was filthy, corroded, the cabinet doors seemed like could fall off anytime, foul smelling (like sewer), musky, old, broken, dated, termites infested, broken furniture. We got bad allergies living there. The toilet was plugged and there was no plunger. Despite messaging them they didn’t respond back. The 3 towels provided were rags that didn’t even absorb 1 drop of water and smelled used. No pool towels - Looks like there’s no concept of pool/beach towels. We are expected to go to the pool without a towel or use the bath towels!? The walls between apartments are paper thin that if you even sneeze your neighbours will hear you. The pots and pans provided were a joke (see attached pics). When we questioned to the owner/agent that how are we supposed to cook in these, the answer was as long as they are there, conditions don’t matter to them. The coffee maker was full of mold, the blender provided was the cheapest plastic than my kids plastic toys. The AC didn’t work so we had to keep the door open for ventilation, and there’s no mosquito screen, the mosquitoes will eat you up. There’s so many mosquitoes around there. The shower was broken. The 5 star reviews here seem not legit. BEWARE and Rent somewhere else.

Playacar is the best place to stay in Playa del Carmen, away from the crazyness of fifth avenue, and surrounded of nature, trees, birds and iguanas. Akab is a relaxed condominium, small but with all services and parking lot, a small but nice pool, and without complications… definitely would stay here again. It’s highly recommended to rent a car, because its about 1.5 km from the entrance and it’s difficult to move without one… even the beach is far from here to go on foot. Besides, it’s cheaper than move on taxi cars… The entrance can be tricky due to some incompetent guards, but if you say that you are staying in an airb&b and show your reservation and an ID, everything will run smoothly.

The apartments are not as they appear in the photo, if I had read the comments here, I would not have rented them,They were right. I wish you would care for the apartments once a year instead of taking care of the garden every day. The furniture inside is very old and the electronic devices do not work. The employees do not care. I recommend you not to rent a house! Especially with Carlos and his boss. Please don't cheat form peoples.

We definitely do not recommend it! If you want stress-free vacation don't choose this place. Household appliances do not work. The pool is noisy and impossible to sleep. The hosts will not help you with anything, they will only take your money. Be careful of Carlos and Guillermo Perez.

Warning. This place looks good only on photos. When you show up, all the downsides come out. We rented apartment no 2107 for two months and they rent it with not working refrigerator. The host's representative, Carlos, said there was nothing he could do and the refrigerator had not been repaired. Imagine living in a warm climate without a working refrigerator. Our neighbors AC didn't work too and they didn't care about it either. If you rent a place there, you are asking for trouble. Better to pay extra and rent somewhere else. Be careful!
