Las monjas clarisas se establecieron en Atlixco en 1617, el templo y convento fueron dedicados al Corazón de Jesús. El complejo conventual se ubica en la calle Libertad, en el centro histórico; la fachada, torre y portadas son típicas de los monasterios de monjas de esa época, aunque algunas partes han sido adaptadas y modificadas. Dentro del edificio aún se conservan las arcadas que delimitan el patio, vestigios con pintura original. Joya arquitectónica de Atlixco.
Santa Clara Monastery, in Atlixco, Puebla
The Poor Clares nuns settled in Atlixco in 1617, the temple and convent were dedicated to the Heart of Jesus. The convent complex is located on Libertad street, in the historic center; the façade, tower and doorways are typical of the nun monasteries of that time, although some parts have been adapted and modified. Inside the building the arcades that delimit the courtyard are still preserved, vestiges with original painting. Atlixco architectural jewel.
