It's a wonderful place I've known since childhood it's a shame that it's closed and we do not have access to our cultural heritage because of mediocre and corrupt government policies, if it were open I would have five stars from me

A 17th-century building, a monumental architectural work where the carved arches stand out and there are paintings or murals on its walls. Approximately 35 years ago it housed the National Tapestry Workshop (INBA), where the smooth high and low technique was studied, in addition to reproducing the work of great painters in textiles.

I was fortunate to attend my primary school in this place, yes, it was school, primary school March 18. I was from 1949 to 1955, it was a mixed school, the girls on the first floor and the boys on the second. And we share the same yard for recess. Beautiful memories. My dear teachers, and the iron director, by the way was the aunt of the famous fighter "the saint". And of course my colleagues and friends. Beautiful childhood. That will never return.

In the mid 1950’s my grandmother worked and lived in La Merced, at the time it was a school, there were living quarters on the second or third floor, we would visit my grandmother and stay there, there was a balcony that I would go out to and look down as there was a lot of activity on the street below, my grandmother was the “ Conserje” and took care of the school and provided meals for the school children, i didn’t realize at the time what a historical place this was, my brother and I ventured around the school after classes were over, we weren’t allowed on school grounds during classes, we would go in the classrooms and in the school director’s office, there was a clock in the office that would sound off every hour, the sound would make an echo that sounded creepy.
