Su clima es cálido semiseco no cuenta con algunos servicios urbanos como hospitales, hoteles cines plazas comerciales, en esta cabecera municipal la Universidad de Colima cuenta con un campus de enseñanza e investigación, su gente es muy hospitalaria y trabajadora.
