★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Typical Cruise Port. It has everything a tourist need from dolphin swim to huge pool with swim up bar and typical cruise shipping. Do yourself a favor. Take a $2 taxi to town and explore/experience the wonderful beach.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is a newer port stop for cruise ships and needs improvement. The shopkeepers hanging out trying to get you to enter was almost a circus atmosphere. Our excursion was cancelled that we arrived for @7 am but I looked at the sea and figured that would happen. So we booked a Jeep in the jungle for 11:30. Went for a swim in the salt water pool and did some shopping. When we went for our Jeep, they wanted to give us a Dune Buggy and share with other people at a later time. I was just done with the confusion and requested refund.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just so everyone knows, there really isn’t a place called Costa Maya. It’s a shopping area created by the Cruise Lines as a port. It sits right next to a town/village called Mahahual. This is one of my favorite locations in the Yucatán Peninsula. Great place to relax and now becoming a known scuba destination which only used to be known by a handful of us divers. Absolutely beautiful, turquoise blue waters, nice ocean breeze and a cold drink in hand while listening to the tide. Just hope it stops growing and keeps it’s quant and laid back atmosphere...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Costa Maya
This was our 3rd stop on our cruise. We weren't sure what to expect. It was super crowded. Lots of folks walking around.
We didn't leave the port area. Our snorkeling excursion got cancelled, so we decided to just walk around.
Lots of entertainment. People walking around in costumes, putting on short shows. Lots of bars, and little shops.
Not too many places to eat. We ended up eating at a place on the water. El Faro Beer and Grill, which was crazy expensive. Charged an 18 percent tax. Pretty sure we got scammed.
Everything here is rediculously overpriced. I bought a dress, they said was 40, at one of the shops. I don't know pesos, so they said 900. Turned out to be about 48 bucks when I checked my card charge.
Nowhere to really go to the beach there at that port. They have some lounge chairs, and a pool with a swim up bar. Not one of my favorites. Just over priced, and over crowded.
There were shuttles to take you somewhere else. Not sure where. We wish we had gone to find out though.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful, but not a lot to do. Nothing stands out here from the other Caribbean ports

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This port is beautiful. We were on a cruise and this was one of our ports. I paid $12 to go up in trees to see the birds and the views. Swimming with the dolphins is very conveniently located, if that is on your list of things to do. The pool is a great way to cool off and relax. The shopping is decent, nothing special. We were there November 2021
