★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Signed up for the enduro MTB ride last second and had a blast! The guides are fantastic riders and they will bring you to word class trails. Our group had a mix of "haven't ridden for a year", weekend warriors, and racers - everyone had a fanatic time. The "enduro" option was 99% DH shuttles. All features had Joey lines and the guides will tow you in to any of the larger jumps and drops. The bikes were slight older and a mixed bag of all mountain, enduro, and older DH bikes. All bikes were mechanically sound and it was way better/cheaper than flying with my bike for one day of riding. I highly recommend COYOTE Aventuras if you want to get out and ride Oaxaca, the mountain biking capital of Mexico!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went on the Hierve el Agua tour with Juan and it was unforgettable. It was so organized, the food was delicious, the views were incredible, and there were a lot of very generous and kind people living near Hierve el Agua that we met along the way that made the experience very special. Juan was so passionate about teaching us about Zapotec history and I learned so much from him. I felt like he really cared about everyone on the tour and it made us feel really at home. The Mezcal tasting was also an amazing experience and there was a bunch of puppies there. Jeronimo (the mezcal farmer) showed us an amazing time and was generous enough to show us how mezcal can be used for healing, other than just drinking it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a great trip to Hierva el Agua, led by Daniela, who was enthusiastic, smart and patient. There was a slight stumbling block in the form of a “bloque”, but after that all went smoothly and all the pools were great, as was the walk, as were the textiles and lunch at the end of the day. Thanks :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a really good time doing a naturey hike around Hierve el Agua, with a lot of good naturalist info about the local plants and geology, and swimming in the cold pools. breakfast was good, and late lunch was great, but the highlight was just before lunch visiting the 'La Estela Fabrica de Mezcal' distillery.
It was really rustic and friendly, with friendly dogs trying to play with us, full descriptions of the process, and the owner gave us so many tastings we were reeling into lunch on amazing mezcal that can't be found in the states.
Protip: If you have to take the dirt road through Xaaga, it's very bumpy. Bring an extra cushion for the van. Hopefully the main road through San Lorenzo is fixed before you see this.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I really can't speak highly enough of the overall Cayote experience and the Sierre Norte trek. We were contacted the day before the tour to be advised the planned tour guide unexpectedly pulled out and the new tour guide didn't have great English so asked if we wanted to move to a different day, which we gratefully took up. I thought this was incredibly considerate and professional as I'm sure 9/10 tours wouldn't have said anything. The fact the day we moved days meant that it was only us 2 on the tour (unbeknownst to us at the time) highlights just how seriously Coyote takes customer service.
The tour started with an exquisite breakfast at a local place at the start of the trek and the day was led by Fernando (not to be confused with Francisco) and Carlos.
We did a picturesque 10km loop and the route and pace was clearly tailored perfectly to our ability which the guides must have sussed out very quickly.
Carlos had an encyclopedic knowledge of the plants across the terrain as we stopped countless times to better understand the name of the plant and its medicinal properties all of which was incredibly interesting.
Fernando was also excellent. So friendly, personable, easy to spend the day with and he answered all of our random questions every 20 seconds.
After the hike we stopped at a different local place and was treated with a delcious and diverse lunch with an array of homecooked dishes from chicken, deer (caught the previous day), pork and soup. There was no going hungry.
An excellent tour with an excellent company. I wouldn't hesitate for a second booking a trip with them.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Coyote is the BEST!!
Such fun days in the mountains with a stellar crew. We have nothing but good things to say about Coyote. They are all incredibly passionate about what they do and very knowledgable and respectful towards the culture, communities and environments they are living and guiding within. They showed us the wide range of diverse and ridiculously fun trails in Ixtepeji, and the stoke was high throughout the two days we rode with them. The dry, rocky trails were very different than our PNW riding, which took me a minute to get used to and the crew was super supportive and encouraging. Fresh mangos, ice cold energy drinks and delish trail mix provided between rides was clutch on the hot days. Carlos and the rest of the team had fantastic communication. We can't wait to bring more friends down to ride with Coyote! Food was excellent.
Also, definitely sign up for the Street Art Bike Tour as well! This tour opened my eyes to the depth of the culture, history and current fight for civil rights in Oaxaca. There is an incredibly important truth about this region that these artists are sharing and Coyote's tour revealed This tour also introduced me to my favorite neighborhoods in the city. I would highly recommend this tour to ANYONE who visits this city and cares to gain insight about the place they are visiting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We booked an excursion to Teotitlán and a sunset hike with Pamela. We loved the experience: meeting up with Zapatec artisans to learn about the candle ceremony and tapestry art, then a walk in the village and finally the hike in the mountain. You need good shoes and sun protection but our guide came with extra water and snacks to enjoy in the sunset. I recommend this experience for those who want an active day but also a bit of culture, off the beaten tracks. Thanks Coyote Adventures!
