My sister and I had the best time with Josephina on our trip to Cozumel. She is an absolute delight and was so great to hear her stories. From the shopping at the market to making delicious food and margaritas, it was a fantastic experience. Would totally recommend to anyone in the area.

This was the BEST experience of my whole cruise! Josefina is warm, and immediately puts everyone at ease. That's vital, because not everyone knows each other, but she sets a tone that makes it easy to interact. We quickly all became friends with each other. The tour of the market showed us the "real" instead of the tourist stuff, and it was fascinating to see. Then back to her home for the cooking class. Josefina is a wealth of information and it is very interesting to listen as she shares about food, Mexican culture, and the life that she has lived. She was captivating. And then - the food! OH MY - PLEASE come hungry! There's a lot to eat and it is all AMAZING! Plus - She makes the BEST margarita I ever tasted, and everyone there agreed. If you have a chance to attend this class and you pass on it, just know that you have made a grave mistake. Do yourself a favor and SIGN UP TODAY!

Josefina is a wonderful cooking instructor who loves to teach others. She also took us around the market place while we shopped and helped us pick out the best vanillas, local honey and other items to bring home. I consider myself an amateur chef and learned ingredients to put in my guacamole to keep it from browning (FYI - her recipe had all my ingredients plus the extras to keep it from browning). We had a delicious cactus salad, made tortillas by hand, and treated ourselves to what seemed like an endless buffet of wonderful dishes (all filled with tidbits of history, like the story behind Margaritas). The next time I visit Cozumel, I would do this again and again. Josefina will show you the modifications for vegan recipes.

Our day was spent learning in a relaxed atmosphere with a wonderfully intelligent teacher and hostess. The Mercado smelled amazing of fresh ingredients and local fair. Josefina’s kitchen was vibrantly inviting. This was the best excursion I’ve attended. We listened, laughed, cooked, ate and laughed some more. Very relaxing atmosphere, delicious food, wonderful company. I highly recommend the experience.

My husband and I absolutely loved our time spent with Josefina she is a wonderful person and very knowledgeable about local and Mexican cuisine, It truly felt like we were at a family meal. The time at the market was interesting , Josefina explain to us how she chose the ingredients and how different foods are sold and used in Mexican cooking. It introduces visitors to a different side of Cozumel and gives you an idea of what daily life is like there. Plus I bought some cazuela local pottery at the market to cook and have the same local feeling back home. We also visited the a small tortilleria and tasted delicious freshly made tortillas. It was my birthday on the day of the class Josefina asked the band at the market to sing happy birthday for me that’s was a really nice gesture. The recipes were delicious and Josefina does a wonderful job of sharing her knowledge and engaging us in preparing the food we tried a variety of food and drinks plus she explained to me others recipes that’s I was keen on learning and was not apart of our class . I would definitely go back again to learn another recipe on our next visit to Cozumel We bought her cookbook and can’t wait to try some of her recipes at home.

This experience was amazing!! We stopped in Cozumel on our cruise ship and decided to do this cooking class. So glad we did. It was very authentic and Josephine's son was so nice and knowledgeable. He had only been doing the class full time for a few weeks, but seemed like he had done it for years. I loved that we got to see the market where locals shop. Everything we made was so good. I would come back and do this again. If you visit Cozumel, this is a must!

If you go to Cozumel attending her class is a MUST! You learn so much about the culture, history, and food of Cozumel. She has the kindest soul and is really funny. My husband and I enjoyed the class so much we both felt it was the highlight of our trip. People like Josefina have really been hit hard economically because of COVID-19 and attending the courses caught by local people is more important than ever. The food was fabulous and the company of Josefina and her assistant Maria were even better! Book your cooking class with her now!
