Inca din perioada azteca, Cuernavaca era folosita ca resedinta de vara de fosti conducatori azteci, iar in perioada moderna de catre vedete si somitati ale vietii mexicane si nu numai, dar si de numerosi turisti. Numele de Cuauhnahuac in dialectul nahuatl inseamna inconjurat de copaci. Cuernavaca adaposteste printre altele casa conchistadorului Hernan Cortez, astazi Muzeul Mexican de Istorie si Cultura; gradinile Morelos; un Muzeu al Medicinei Traditionale si Plantelor Medicinale; Parcul Chapultepec; Catedrala La Asuncion ridicata in secolul al XVI-lea (fosta manastire franciscana), in vecinatatea careia se gaseste un sistem de fortificatii construite din ordinul lui Hernan Cortes.
Cuernavaca (Cuauhnahuac), municipality and administrative residence of the state of Morelos is located about 85 km from Mexico City; also called the city of eternal spring by Alexander Humboldt is a town with lush vegetation due to the mild climate. Since the Aztec period, Cuernavaca was used as a summer residence by former Aztec rulers, and in the modern period by celebrities and dignitaries of Mexican life and not only, but also by many tourists. The name Cuauhnahuac in the Nahuatl dialect means surrounded by trees. Cuernavaca houses, among others, the house of the conquistador Hernan Cortez, today the Mexican Museum of History and Culture; Morelos gardens; a Museum of Traditional Medicine and Medicinal Plants; Chapultepec Park; La Asuncion Cathedral built in the 16th century (former Franciscan monastery), in the vicinity of which is a system of fortifications built by order of Hernan Cortes.
