★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fabulous and sacred place. Reached by a uphill ascent with lots of views and information provided by local guides; our guide Evelia was phenomenal! Lots of fascinating information on the area and their colectivo’s efforts in preserving an amazing big cat habitat, rare flora and fauna and amazing rock art in caves. Incredible!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Too much control over access. Arrived solo after walking 45 minutes from town to a man saying 50 pesos plus 200 for a guide who only speaks Spanish. Too much money for nothing, just a walk to see a little paint on rock . Rather explore it myself or better to have 4 people to share costs.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Other than the food, this was the highlight of our trip to Oaxaca. It is incredible to know more about Mexico, the Zapotecs, and history as these caves are over 10,000 years old.
Strongly recommend visiting and tipping your guide a little extra!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great half day trip from Mitla.
Take a moto taxi from Mitla for 30 pesos per person.
Entrance is 50 pesos and the optional guide is 200. The English guide Evelia was fantastic and highly recommended. The tour takes about 1-1.5 hours. Afterwards if you still have energy ask about how to get to the Devil's Cave across the highway.
To get back to Mitla it's either a nice 1 hour walk back or you will soon find a taxi or hitchhike (like we did).
