★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La DFIE inició labores como Centro de Formación e Innovación Educativa en 2004, en las instalaciones recién construidas que posteriormente fueron designadas como Edificio Adolfo Ruiz Cortines. Al incrementar sus responsabilidades, adquirió el estatus de Coordinación General, cambiando sus siglas a CGFIE.
Imparte acciones de formación para toda la planta laboral del IPN, personal de apoyo y asistencia a la educación, personal docente y funcionarios, permitiendo que ejerzan su derecho a recibir capacitación constante, adecuada y de alta calidad. Realiza investigación en el área educativa y divulga sus resultados.
Recientemente adquirió la condición de Dirección y simplificó sus siglas a DFIE.
 The DFIE began work as a Training and Educational Innovation Center in 2004, in the recently built facilities that were later designated as the Adolfo Ruiz Cortines Building. By increasing its responsibilities, it acquired the status of General Coordination, changing its acronym to CGFIE.
It provides training actions for the entire IPN workforce, education support and assistance staff, teaching staff and officials, allowing them to exercise their right to receive constant, adequate and high-quality training. It conducts research in the educational area and disseminates its results.
It recently acquired the status of Directorate and simplified its acronym to DFIE.
