Diving Yucatan - 97203 Mérida

Such an amazing experience! Excellent instructors and great staff, that will work with you to become a competent scuba diver. If you are thinking of taking a diving course I 100% recommend Diving Yacatan. I will be taking ALL of my future courses here.

We had a two dive daytrip with Anthony. He was a great instructor and patient teacher! The equipment was up to date and well cared for. At the end of the dives we had the opportunity to have some food prepared by the locals, which was absolutely amazing! Overall a great trip and money well spent!

I had an amazing experience with this dive school and received my open water certification through them. The instructor Sapo was very helpful, patient and fun. The cenotes that they brought me to my open water dives were incredibly beautiful.

Unfortunately, I only had 4 days in Merida, but my experience with the whole staff was absolutely wonderful: very friendly and highly qualified guides/instructors, well-organized centre and truly superb diving spots! Both safety and fun play an important role and you can go diving in beautiful caverns and/or more advanced caves. The equipment is new and in top shape. After the dives, we could eat some very delicious local food for fair prices. Don’t hesitate, this is the place to go! I hope I will be back soon…

I have a diveshop myself….these guys are running their shop very well! Super chill diving, good equipment, knowledgable, really nothing negative at all. If in Merida, dive with them. You will not regret! I loved it!

I was diving one day with Carlos in the Cenotes and it was fantastic! The contact and communication with the store was exemplary and the rental equipment is in perfect condition. Our guide Carlos made this day an unforgettable experience with a lot of humor but also a lot of knowledge about diving and the Cenotes. We had 2 wonderful dives and I felt safe and in good hands at all times, even though the dives were challenging. I learned a lot and improved my skills. If I ever come back to Merida I want to go diving with Carlos again. Muchas Gracias Carlos and Diving Yucatan!

We did two days of cenote diving with Diving Yucatan (four dives in total in four different cenotes) and we really enjoyed it! We both are AOWD with around 140 logged dives and without any cenote/cavern experience. On both days, we started at 9am at the modern dive shop in the north of Merida and our guide Carlos drove us with a pickup truck to the cenotes in the south. This took around one hour in which our guide gave a detailed briefing and provided a lot of background infos about the ecology and geology of cenotes and cavern diving in general. One the first day, we where 3 clients + 1 guide and on the second day two clients + 1 guide. We went back to Merida in the afternoon. On the pickup truck we had oxygen, first aid kit, a tool box, water for rinsing, a cooler with cold beverages and some snacks. The tanks where fitted for both DIN and INT regulators. Our guide Carlos was really nice, made a very professional impression and was equipped with double tanks in sidemount config, redundant regulators in long-hose config, tank primary light, several secondary lights, reels and spools, etc. Even though these where our first cenote dives and we where a bit scared of the darkness and depth in the beginning, thanks to Carlos we felt safe at all times. We had no hurry, everyone could take the time he needs and both days where really relaxed in general. Thank you Carlos and the Diving Yucatan team for that wonderful and thrilling adventure, which definitely was the highlight of our Mexico trip. Such an incredible experience diving with Diving Yucatán! My partner and I decided to up our certifications while visiting Merida. I called around to all the dive shops in the area and DY definitely stood out from the start with their flexibility and customer service. Yes, they may be a tad bit more expensive, but what you get in return is worth much more. My partner did his advanced theory portion online and we both did our Nitrox. The courses were very straight forward and the literature was directly from PADI. Pretty straightforward, nothing fancy. They were able to accomodate his 5 dives into 2 days and I was able to tag along which was really nice. On our first day, we met with Rodrigo, who would be our instructor for the weekend. It felt more like you were diving with an old friend who was an expert in diving. He really cares about your safety and well being and took the time to explain everything as many times as it took for you to understand not just the how but the why. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a great instructor to be honest! He definitely made our weekend so special… like I said, it truly felt like hanging with friends. The cenotes they took us to we’re all very unique and special. Some of the best dive experiences of my 10 years of diving. What made them even better was being able to have a chat with the locals who helped carry our equipment and helped set us up for the day. Being able to eat lunch/dinner at their house afterwards was also a treat - definitely the best panuchos I’ve had! I can’t recommend this place enough! And if you’ve never dived a cenote, do it! It’s truly amazing!!
