Don Bonito Hotel - 63734 Sayulita

Super friendly staff, lovely saltwater pool, and beautiful design and decor. Comfortable bed. Only steps from the beach. Would definitely stay again!

The concrete tub in the room was amazing, the large bed was delightful, everything was clean and comfortable. It felt very modern with a minimalistic vibe. During the check in process, too much time was spent explaining why they were going to charge a deposit in case of damages. Sure whatever but none of this was explained until you got there. And thre young man checking me in was not very welcoming, in fact, I also just left during the check in process. Also the place closes at 7pm, from there you must keep up with a code to get into the front door of the hotel, it would be better if your hotel room key work or having staff to let you in instead of having to remember a code especially after a night of fiesta. Finally, it was quiet and peaceful to be a half mile away from Sayulita, but the walk is tiring and does influence your desire to go back into town. I would try other accommodations next time.

Hotel was as aesthetic as the photos but there were multiple hygiene issues. There were bugs that closely resembled bed bugs on our bed, our sheets were severely stained (red, brown, you name it…BLEACH…), sheets and covers were also ripped and left a bad taste in our mouths upon check in. I totally second the other reviewer who said the check in process was unnecessarily long…and the dude checking us in had a very unfriendly demeanor (not sure if he was trying to be professional but that ain’t it…). Needs were accommodated but don’t expect much. The saltwater pool was very nice though, and plenty of photo ops. Lastly it gets noisy at night and you can hear your neighbors.

The place was beautiful and the staff were so helpful. They set up airport transportation and Covid testing for us and made everything feel so easy and safe. Every service that Jared (the manager) set up or recommended was great. The food in the cafe was amazing. The entire place was clean and well kept, and our room was gorgeous. A big thank you to Jared and all the staff at Don Bonito. If you’re thinking about booking here, just do it! You won’t regret it. We loved the beach right down from Don Bonito (rather than the main one in town). There is a little tiki bar where you can rent an umbrella with loungers. It’s way less crowded and the drinks are perfect. We stayed all day several times.

Couldn't have been happier with this place. Would definitely come back. - We spent 8 nights here - Loved the breakfast cafe. Victoria (I think she's the manager) is awesome. The toast is unlike any toast you've ever had, and we got a delicious smoothie everyday. - Salt water pool and chairs were great. A lot of different seating options all over the venue. - The decor and ambiance is on point. Felt so comfortable. Good vibes. - Management was really helpful. We got sick one day, and they were so kind and helpful - Rooms were a good size. Beds were comfortable. Loved the tub.

I only went there 4-5 times for coffee or smoothies and i always felt that there is a kind of bad vibes. Once (and last time) I asked for a smoothie (that is btw 4x more expensive than in town) and they did not fill up completely the cup knowing that there were a lot left in the mixer - they refuse to fill up my cup when i asked for it and the guy just told me that the leftover was for him. I could not believe it - never went there again. Not good energy there.

DO NOT BOOK HERE. We had the most horrible experience with this hotel. They showed us the room and we immediately felt the incredibly high humidity, after taking a look around we saw that there was toxic mold on the walls. We asked for another room and they told us that all the rooms on the floor are like that. That they are AWARE of the situation. It is unbelievable to me that they knowingly offer rooms with toxic mold to clients. Obviously we said that we couldn't stay there and the manager told us they will of course not charge us for the stay. Finally they did charge us and when we contacted the property to ask for our money back they never responded. HORRIBLE customer service and super arrogant attitude. Avoid yourself the pain and don’t stay at this hotel.

This hotel is officially the best in Sayulita. Super clean and the staff is so friendly. It’s on the north end of town, which is much quieter, but still an easy walk to restaurants etc. No need for a golf cart! The cafe has great breakfast options, and the yoga on the roof was so nice. It’s truly a little oasis! The only con is that there a two dogs that seem to live on the hotel property, and they bark late into the night. It did keep us up a few nights, but eventually they stopped. It wouldn’t be a big deal if they didn’t live there, but because they do (?) it would be nice if they could be kept inside so guests can sleep.
