Best French breakfast, great lakeside view

We live in Chapala, so we did not need a room... We had dinner with four friends in their Terrace Restaurant. Good food, great service. Thanks to Oscar, Sandy and Lalo!

Overall stay was fine. There were many hidden fees and they often changed their prices on us. We tried ordering taxi service through them, but quickly realized they were overcharging us for a “service” fee. The restaurant food is great and installations overall are nice. Good view. Did feel like they took advantage of tourists with their fluctuating prices.

I really want to give this place 5 stars but I just can't for 2 reasons: 1. There were far too many mosquitoes all over the place. Especially at night. We couldn't even go out on our balcony at all hours of the day really. It would be a simple fix if there were some plants that are designed to keep mosquitoes out or away. Also also some citronella candles throughout the property, given to each guest would also suffice. 2. The check out process was poor. This is a premium location which you pay top dollar for. Which is fine. But I did not appreciate feeling harassed and being sent messages on my phone to check out right at 12pm. I was aware of the check out time of course. But this being a premium locale, I would expect there to be grace around checking out 10-20 minutes late if the need arises. We were looking at leaving on the Wednesday but decided to stay an extra day on the Thursday and left on Friday. Both days I incurred these annoying messages. My recommendation to fix this is DISCONTINUE these messages immediately! Aside from that, the overall experience is really great. And I would consider staying again. The pool, the rooms, the views and the food are all wonderful. The staff is generally amazing as well.

We have stayed at this hotel twice and have loved it. We come back every afternoon to have drinks and delicious appetizers at the pool. Great drinks!! The restaurant has amazing food for both breakfast and dinner. A nice selection! Yes, they close at 9 pm. There are places in the village that close at 8pm and even 7 pm. We had several other couples stay and had no complaints about the bill. My thought is if you want to stay after check out, make arrangements before check out time. If the price is too steep for you, then leave on time. Rooms have to be prepared for the next guests and a boutique hotel won’t have 10 housekeepers. I’m looking forward to our next visit! My review is for the restaurant. Good: beautiful place, especially at night. Not so good: food was OK, not great , service was very slow, waited over 20 min for our wine and appetizers. Very inneffecient set up where wait staff has to go up and down stairs for everything. Waiter left to get food.. and there was no wait staff there to tend to diners. There were only 3 table of people. It's a taxi ride in from town also if you aren't staying at the hotel.

The hotel is a little gem hidden in chapala. I had an incredible breakfast of poached eggs with mimosas. Delightful. The service was a little slow to be honest. We waited, and waited, but the views of the lake were amazing. And the owner came and tlak to 7s for a few seconds apologizing about the wait saying a few staff called sick. But with the gorgeous pool, and the mimosas, we forgot about it. Nice place to scape for the weekend
