I told my husband that I was dying for tacos capiados. I’m pretty serious about my tacos capiados. I don’t eat the often, but when I get a craving... So I Googled “tacos capiados Tulum”, read a few reviews and my gut said Dr. Tacos is the one. The taxista, didn’t know where it was, so he dropped us on the other side of the main road and though we have found the GPS pretty unreliable in Tulum, we gave it a go! Totally over-shot the place and just about gave up, when coming from the opposite direction all the planets aligned and there it was! Armando is a well traveled gem of an owner/host. We only realized afterwards that he has a full seafood menu and also us a mixologist, so keep that in mind... He even shared a taste of their amazing shrimp broth that apparently is a hangover elixir... But, let’s stay focused her. The tacos capiados are magical! From the perfect batter, not too heavy and fried to crispy perfection, quality fish and shrimp, to the super fresh vegetable toppings and creamy salsas (the green one was my favorite) to brighten everything up. But... That’s before we even talk about the “house made” potosinas style red chili tortillas. Ahem. Armando perfectly matched the tortillas, from his “land locked” home state of San Luis Potosí, with flavors of the sea! Amén bro! You killed it! He gave all the credit to his cook/chef, who works her magic in their tiny kitchen. But clearly they are a great team! I wish them much luck in their young venture and will sing their praises to anyone who will listen!!! Everyone must goooooo!
