★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I booked the whale shark tour for me, my sister, my 2 nieces. Let me start by saying that the actual tour itself was awesome. Seeing the whale sharks was something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time and I’m glad I was able share this experience with my family. The guide, boat captain, and boat staff were all very friendly and attentive to your needs. However the office staff is horrible. The process to book a tour with this company is to first make a down payment through there website. Which I was able to without any problem and then pay your balance at the time of your tour. The problem came when 2 days before my tour I called eco tours to verify my reservation and to ensure that I would be able to pay my balance with a credit card at the time of my tour. The person that answered stated that this would be no problem. However this was not apparently the case as our guide stated that they were only accepting cash for the balance and that I should have been told that. After several calls to his boss he said they would I would be able to make the payment via PayPal with my credit card at the end of the tour but I would be charged a 5.5% fee. I was never told there would be any extra fees for paying with a credit card by the person I talked to on the phone or on the website but I agreed to the fee. Skip to the end of the tour. Tour was awesome! The guide again called his boss to get our total remaining balance which we payed with PayPal. However when again after the guide called his boss to verify the payment his boss declined the payment and refunded it stating that the payment needed sent in Mexican pesos( which PayPal does automatically) and each transaction needed to paid separately ie my sister, nieces, myself, photo package (that I was going to buy) and a t-shirt that my niece wanted. All needed to be paid separately. All after they originally told me to pay everything together. It was at this point I became annoyed as I kept getting pressured by the guide to get cash using my credit card at the ATM which I refused to do as I would incur more fees. Now after making the first the guide said the payment was wrong again. He stated that the payment was not sent in pesos but when I showed him that PayPal did actually send the payment in pesos he then stated that the exchange rate was wrong as PayPal exchange rate (actual exchange rate) was 18.3 and eco tours or the boss wanted to up charge me to 19. Now I was really upset because not only did they want to charge me a 5.5 % charge for using my credit card but now they wanted to get me with an inflated exchange rate. In the end I told the guide I would make the separate payments as requested for the tour and the t-shirt with PayPal exchange rate and that I no longer want the photos as I just wanted to get this over with. The whole payment process was really stressful and could have been avoided with things were made clear from the beginning.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Taking a speed boat out 40 miles half way to Cuba to find these unbelievable fish was an all day adventure I will never forget. We were so well taken care of. You cannot imagine this adventure until you actually do it. My 60th birthday is unforgettable now.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome experience! Our guide was Joshua and his team was amazing. We were a small group of 9 people and everyone got as many dives as they wanted. Much better than other large tour groups only getting one or two jumps for a couple minutes.
The trip to Isla Mujeres was lots of fun and relaxation. All in all a fabulous excursion. Hoping Eco Tours gets back to me so I can get the photos they took.
The booking process through another company was a disaster. I figured out that there are lots of third party companies acting as sales referral companies, taking bookings and payments, making false promises, and then sending the referral to Eco Tours or other tour companies. The number of whale shark tour companies in Cancun area far exceeds the number of companies with actual boats and licenses. So only a few companies are real and the rest are just referral commission collecting operations.
I suggest you book with Eco Tours directly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a fantastic time starting with our hotel pickup where our enthusiastic host, Katia, greeted us with smiling eyes (face mask era). She provided a thorough and entertaining briefing on the way. Boat staff was awesome, and captain did a great job setting us up for swimming with whale sharks. First mate even served fresh fruit to us while we were splashing around at Isla Mujeres. Definitely recommend these guys!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overall, great experience! Our pick up staff, Daniel and Mario were professional and helpful. They stopped along the way to get everyone bananas and stopped at a small market so people could get water or Gatorade and Dramamine. Other people on our boat didn't get the same opportunity, we carry Dramamine for my wife and were able to help. The ride out was a great ride along with instructions on do's and don'ts. The Cpt and crew did their best to ensure people were able to get 2 good swims and photo opportunities. Afterwards we anchored at Isla Mujeres and the crew made us lunch before we headed back in. Polite and professional, they do this for a living and deal with people from all over the world. I GIVE THEM 5 NINJA STARS!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful and unique experience, mix of 10 mantas and 20 while sharks on 16th of September. The only thing is too crowded, fortunately there are some rules to be respected

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My husband are avid scuba divers but have never experienced something like the whale sharks. Totally awesome! The 30 mile boat ride out to them is certainly an adventure but worth it when you finally get in the water with these magnificent creatures and the mantra Ray's. Our guide Marcella was professional and very personable. So glad we did this. Highly recommend it!
