★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place has nothing to do with a language school.
Actually it is a Travel Agent and doesn't have enough facilites to help you improve your Spanish,no placement test,no currículum,no qualified teachers therefore you never feel in good and professional hands.
Definitely not recommended! ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I studied in this school for six weeks and it was the best experience of my life. Merida and Cancun are the most beautiful places I ever visited. The school is excellent and the teachers are very professional and well prepared. I strongly recommend this school. I learned more than I was expecting in a friendly and nice environment. The tours were awesome and the food was excellent. I have nothing but good things to say about Ecora Spanish school.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The school was excellent. I have learned so much from my professor and am ready for advanced soon. Learning how to speak now. The school is very flexible and also took us on field trips. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ecora was a total disappointment for me.
I registered for 60 hrs private classes for 600 US$ during three weeks and I don’t recommend this place at all.
“This place is not a school” it’s a Travel Agency and their environment is not suitable for learning at all! It’s almost always noisy.
1- They don’t care about your Spanish Level. There is no placement test available to measure your level. Because of that;
First two days I had to spend my time with unbelievably insufficient teacher.
2- They don’t have curriculum to follow up. I had to bring my own curriculum from my former school and we completed the 60 hrs accordingly.
3- Their material is not authentic. They charge 20$ extra for fotocopied books.
After all, if you don’t have serious intentions to learn Spanish and if you’re in Merida for a while and just want to get some basics you can choose this place. But if you need more, this place is not for you.
You won’t regret choosing another school instead of this.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We enjoyed our time studying at ECORA. Neither of us had any formal Spanish classes before but have done audio lessons and had some knowledge. Jose Mejia, our teacher, taught us as beginners - hardcore grammar for the week mostly, with a little vocab. We were hoping to do a little more conversation practice but it was good to get the instruction. Jose was patient and answered our questions well. The school is a couple blocks from two excellent coffee places as well as a delicious French pastry bakery - if that factors into your thinking!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I can wholeheartedly recommend the Ecora Language School. I did an intensive five-day course there in May 2018 and made incredible progress. My teacher, Jose Mejia, is a very experienced and able teacher, and apart from that, is a very kind person with a great sense of humor. He adapts very quickly to the level in which you master the language and this enables you to advance quickly. So go there!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ecora is a great Spanish school and a fine travel agency. My wife and I have spent the last seven winters either in Mexico, Colombia, or Costa Rica. During each of those winters, we spent several months taking Spanish classes. So we have experienced a variety of Spanish instructors and many beautiful Latin American cities.
Ecora and our instructor, Don Jose, have been the best. He is very competent and kind, and a fun person. He improved our Spanish a lot, both our grammar and our conversational ability. Classes at Ecora included regular “field trips” with our instructor. These were great fun and helped us build practical vocabulary. Merida is a very lovely, safe, and reasonably priced city.
Besides those excursions, Ecora was also able to arrange a number of week-end trips for us at very reasonable prices. Overall they provided great service! We plan to return there next winter. We very highly recommend the experience at Ecora.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This review is from my husband Bill. I attended 5 weeks of intermediate to advanced Spanish from Jose Mejia, and I found Jose to be patient, have a wonderful sense of humor, and to be a very nice person willing to give whatever help was needed. I had two years of college level Spanish previously but over the years had forgotten a great deal. Between Jose's teaching and the text books I was able to pick up where I left off and learn a little beyond my college level. During my 5 hours a day with Jose, we spent about 2 hours in conversation then the rest of the time going over the lessons and homework from the textbooks. Jose did a good job when trying to work with students at different levels at the same time. He obviously has a lot of experience. The school also employed another instructor when needed for very beginning learners. The classes were a lot of fun, and Jose really cared about his students.
