Upon arriving at this wonderful place built and founded by Don Melchor Covarrubias in 1578, it is clear that years later it was called Imperial College and so as time has changed the name leading it to function in colonial times as an important school. You are impressed by all the neoclassical details of its architecture, it also belongs to the cultural field; It has several areas that as you go into it you experience new things such as the Paraninfo Hall which was built by the Jesuits and is the main hall where BUAP ceremonies are currently held. Its importance in its time is due to the evangelization which a new culture, religious dogma and faith were taught in public squares, in schools, of rich people among indigenous people and in every corner of the colony. However, it is currently considered Architectural University Heritage of the BUAP for its beauty and antiquity, for the emblematic history that was written on it and its context over time and has also been considered a World Heritage Site by the Organization for Education, Science and Culture of the United Nations, I can only say that if you have the opportunity to visit it do not miss it because you will not regret it is a unique experience that is not enough to explain it in words.

The Carolino Building (currently known) is a property located in the Historic Center of the City of Puebla, Mexico. Since 1937 he has been occupied by the Rectory and administrative offices of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. It was the headquarters of the College of the company of Jesus, one of the five schools founded by the Jesuits in the novohispana village.
The construction of this building was in charge of Jesuits, however, one hundred years later they were expelled by King Carlos III. This school for a time also functioned as a prison since it is said that the French intervention and the second general empire Porfirio Díaz was imprisoned in this place.
During the revolution in 1910, General Maximino Avila transformed the school into a university.
This building has not always been as we know it today; Over the years its structure was modified based on an Italian current called Mannerism: window frames, semicircular arches, quarry, etc.
Currently the Carolino building is a University heritage of the Benemérita Autonomous University thanks to its architecture, paintings, but above all, the history behind its huge and cold walls.

Excellent place with a lot of history, there are tours led by the boys from the social service of the same university. I highly recommend visiting it, especially for the Baroque Hall, it is spectacular. It has one of the oldest libraries in the state with very well preserved book jewelry. Admission is free and the staff is extremely friendly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was the College of the Holy Spirit. From here comes what is the current Benemérita Autonomous University of Puebla. Its current appearance does not correspond to what it originally had in its foundation. They were small teaching houses founded by Melchor de Covarrubias in 1578. The physical headquarters has been modified during these five hundred years but the idea that gave rise to it has remained until today.
It is a gigantic building that occupies a whole block of the Historic Center. Among the main elements are the three courtyards inside the Carolino, the Lafragua Library, the Baroque Hall and the Paraninfo Hall.
My experience in this place was incredible and there is a lot of culture in this place, mainly its history (construction) today is important for young people since it is a university, and that favors the students.
