About Edificio Vizcaya
Años más tarde, con la ascensión al trono de España de la dinastía de los Borbón, Felipe V, quien había conocido la belleza de los jardines de Versalles y la preocupación por la belleza característica de la corte del Rey Sol, encargó personalmente para la Alameda, que se construyeran varias fuentes, se sembraran nuevos árboles y ampliaran las portones de acceso al parque. Asimismo ordenó que el propio virrey de la Nueva España debería velar personalmente por el buen estado de este jardín. En 1775, el virrey Carlos Francisco de la Croix amplió las calzadas laterales de la Alameda, la cual tomó ahora una forma rectangular en vez de la cuadrada que había tenido hasta entonces, de igual modo trazó las calzadas interiores y se mandaron construir cuatro nuevas fuentes. Durante esa etapa la Alameda era el sitio favorito para el amor, a ella acudían todos los jóvenes y doncellas casaderas, que tras elaborados ritos de gestos y señas con su pañuelo y claro, con una rigurosa supervisión por parte de sus familiares podían iniciar un romance.
