★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Surprisingly large Mayan archeological site with several buildings which have been nicely restored. As with some other sites in Mexico, it is not possible/allowed to climb up the very impressive central temple anymore. Because of the large number of people who might visite this site, this is understanble, though. Even though when we visited we had the luck that there were only few other people.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful site! We basically had the whole archaeological zone to ourselves as it isn’t as popular as other better known sites. Definitely recommend to go.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Were you disappointed that you were not allowed to climb pyramids on other sites in the Yucatan region? Don't you worry because you can climb all but one in this one! The site has at least 9 pyramids so you will be feeling that you have done a leg day at the end! Spectacular views and not many visitors makes this one a hidden gem! You can reach the site by taking a collectivo from calle chihuahua (costs 45 pesos per person each way). The street is behind the market place outside of the city walls. The entrance fee is 85 pesos. When it is time to make your way back, it is best to wait for the collectivo on the crossroad as not all drivers stop at the site entrance.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a hidden gem!
We visited on our departure from Campeche and we’re so glad we did!
This site is so special! I love how much it had to offer. You can climb up to certain areas and get a good look at the bedrooms, chambers, etc. you can even lie on the beds! There’s a bit where the exterior has been removed and you can see super well preserved decorations of masks from the temple underneath. What a treat!
There was barely anyone there when we went. It is a trek but not one you’ll regret doing.
Our guide here gave us such a unique perspective into the Mayan culture and what life was like. He did such an incredible job! Worth getting a guide so you can know what you’re looking at - there’s so much to see at this site!
