Such an original, dedicated and environmentally friendly location… it feels like a hostel in the jungle. The cottages are comfortable, with privacy and really made with love. If you like mandalas and dream catchers, check out the deco… I bought two from the owner and they are amazing!!! I can gladly recommend this place… Sustainability is at their core… they really love it and live it by example.

WARNING: the $22 listed price is NOT a tent (read below). The place is esthetically nice, rooms have power and there's a firepit, BBQ grill, a kitchen, and hammocks, which is nice. But there are issues: 1. The place appears listed on Google maps a "rooms from $22". Those are NOT tents, but a SINGLE small metal trailer for which they don't have pictures posted. Tents go for $33. This feels like a scam/false advertisement to me. 2. The beds have just a single set of sheets and no blankets. They claim that "we do not have hotel service so towels, shampoo... blankets and laundry have an extra cost". I get most of them, but BLANKETS!? There's no excuse not to just leave a set in every tent. Especially because you WILL need the blanket (we used out towels instead). 3. There IS indeed noise from traffic, though not extremely loud. There can be also noise from other guests playing music at night. Their wifi speed goes at under 2Mbps, which is virtually unusable. Your mobile data will go faster than that.

Avoid this place!!!! The cabanas are located next to a busy road where very loud semi trucks drive all night. It’s impossible to sleep. Also the bed was not comfortable at all. No airco (fan present, but also very loud). We left the place after 2 night. After that they marked us as ‘no-show’ so we can’t leave a review. It’s looks the same as the pictures, which makes it a nice place but the problem lays in the things you cannot capture in a foto!

I accidentally booked with el Buho and they kept the entire amount of the transaction, although I sent an immediate request asking for retraction. I was charged $248 USD for a service I won’t be using and the management practice here is nothing short of robbery. They charged my credit card IMMEDIATELY on booking.com rather than paying upon arrival. I always pay in the national currency at the time of arrival with booking.com. alAdditionally, I requested the cancelation within 15 minutes of the transaction upon finding out that there was no hot water nor towels. To charge my card and keep the entire amount of the booking WHICH I AM NOT USING is nothing short of robbery. It’s high season in the Yucatán, these people prey upon these types of situations. Covid played a major role in the cancelation as well not only did I test positive, but my friend who I was traveling with lost her grandmother the day earlier in Ireland and had to leave the trip, limiting my funds even further - a situation beyond my control and there has been zero understanding on the part of the company, as well as booking.com. I’ve communicated with the company several times with zero understanding- when I wrote to the company for the nth time, expressing how I’m short on funds and a teacher, I received an insulting response, questioning my intelligence. I have requested my bank cancel the transaction, but El Buho is running an overpriced, unethical, and money hungry business with no regard for their clients and a simple goal of stealing money and hiding extra costs.

Looks great on pictures but reality is that the campsite is right on the main road with many lorries going by, sleeping was very difficult. Staff were responsive via WhatsApp but in reality I had minimal contact in person; on checking in the woman didn’t acknowledge that I had arrived and was unhelpful. Only cold water unless you pay for warm which is not expensive but is inconvenient and under a strange guise. See picture. I would not book again. Not good value for services provided and location.

Our first time staying here and it was nice. Standard rooms have shared bathrooms and showers outside. They have rooms/cabanas with private bathroom for an additional cost. Breakfast is not included but the place has picnic tables available so you can bring your own food and eat it there. If you feel like relaxing, you can chill out on the hammocks outside. The place is very nice and soothing, and the sunrise looks awesome!

This place is a waste of money. The grounds are nice but it is very loud from the highway traffic and the staff are very unfriendly. We got a private room and it was awful. The only thing that separates the room from the communal kitchen is a thin semi-transparent door. The refrigerator and stove are placed flush to the room meaning any very late night visits to the kitchen will sound like someone is in the bedroom with you. They charge for everything, including any kind of towel for the bathroom. Do not waste your money staying here. This place is not near the water but right along the main highway.

It is a great place to stay. I had a baby and it was a bit complicated to have him here. Private toilets are good, but I really thought it was clogged. I had given this place 4 stars, but I have been waiting for someone to check out and I have tried calling and ringing the bell but no one is coming and I have to go now. No early check out and remember that they will keep your and 30 pesos environmental tax; need to be clear. I don't think this is the Way to "scold" your customers (see response from the service provider)specially considering I had a baby and an old lady with me waiting for the check out. Check out times were mentioned once and of course were always visible at the front desk, but in special cases; like ours; you won't have an early check out and even then I was able to check out later than 9 as the lady was a bit late. Again the place was great, but not being able to take feedback in a good manner makes me want to keep the 3 stars.
