★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The place is really pretty and the welcome makes you feel good. I think that food was okay but big, because couldn't finish mine.
An opportunity area is in their drinks, I order a lemonade with chia seed and the chia was put on the moment, but it was okay too.
I was looking for something home-made but the place is really a restaurant.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A San Cristóbal de Las Casas institution, El Caldero does not disappoint. Come here for the caldos at reasonable prices. The aguas frescas are fresh made and there's a good assortment. Personally I don't the starters are necessary because you might not finish your caldo. Remember the reason you came in the first place. Staff is helpful and friendly. They try to be quick but with so many caldo choices so tables take time to make choices. FYI, caldo is soup.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ El Caldero gave me an opportunity to taste and appreciate the Mexican cuisine. We had the Caldo de Mariscos and the El Caldero. Both are incredibly flavorful and served with rich amount of ingredients. Their prices were reasonable with friendly and accommodating staffs. Overall, our experience in this restaurant was great and we left with a big smile on our faces and too full tummy. I would really love to eat in this restaurant again when we return to San Cristobal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Loved the soups here, especially for chilly days. I came twice and I liked the Arroz de Ollita more than the Chilango. They were both tasty though. Service was great and decor is cute. One of my favorite restaurants in San Cris.
