★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Negative: Hotel employees wrongfully charged me over 650 usd WITHOUT authorization. There are amazing people at el cid but there are few that caused a ton of pain. Claiming they are our friends, then NOT considering our side of story...truth

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pros: Beautiful hotel , location , great staff, fun dinner show, heated pools, poolside bars, Juan pool service, Martin pool service and Alejandro restaurant at pool all great employees. cons: walls are very hollow can hear other guests talk, all inclusive pricing felt a bit steep for what you get, no internet or WiFi included, laundry service is a complete rip off. $120 for single bag of laundry. Gym is off site from hotel,

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ok, to start, the rooms were just ok, it gives the esential but is very meh, the food got very little variation, and its was cold! that was very lamentable, the staff was not very friendly , and they never knew where things happen, they never know what hours the restaurants were open, nobody could tell you nothing, they just dont wanna be bothered, a shame, they give us our room till 4 p.m. and we arrived at 8 a.m. but of course they charged the whole day, the wifi is in terrible conditions, very lame, the place is gorgeous and little subjects you can overlook like the food and wifi, but the fact that the staff been so uneducated and very not aware of how the hotel where they work functions...is very bad, wont come back just for that terrible staff

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice enough rooms, good view.
But the hotel is far from all-inclusive. $10/device/day for extremely slow wifi, $10/day/person to use the gym across the street. Restaurant prices are pretty high. Location is ok but a lot of activities are farther south.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So much fun! We had a wonderful stay in one of the suites, it was spacious and clean. It was indeed a great time. Even walking through the lobby was fun : ) As for the resort itself, wonderful. No complaints at all. We did not have much of the food or drinks there so I cannot speak to that. I can say that the food from vendors outside of the resort was phenomenal and plentiful and a must. We spent most of our time outside of the resort but it was in fact clean, welcoming, comfortable and elegant.
This has nothing to do with El Cid... but as a precaution, dont take the "tour of the city" from random taxi drivers that may pull up to the resort. We did make that mistake and he charged us $200 USD plus tip lol. Our fault for not asking first. But while we were up at some viewpoint looking at iguanas, I realized that we had made a bad decision not only cost-wise, but safety-wise also. Skip it. Stay close and within view.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Booked in July for Feb. Prebooked upgrade room and all inclusive. Rooms were not regularly cleaned, had to keep tracking down towels to shower. Called tonight at 10 pm to let them know our room had not been cleaned and no towels. What do you want me to do was the response. No king bed. 2 tiny beds that the worn out sheets won't stay on. I have been in the area 4 times and know better value resort with better food selection and clean rooms. 2 weeks is too long at El Cid.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The whole time we were at El Cid this was the best restaurant the best tasting food, but too bad we had those all inclusive bracelets And it was like pulling teeth to get a cocktail. Was supposed to include all top shelf liquor and anything we wanted to drink, but that was not the case.
The picture is the pork shank and that was absolutely delicious but as I said good luck getting cocktail even with all inclusive they'll try to charge us. Charge you and you have to fight with them and say Hey I got the all inclusive bracelet but they still try every restaurant did that to us under the all inclusive it really got old.. From what we understand they tried that on several people

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is the staff at El Cid Castilla who were, for the most part, amazing. Pool service was attentive and friendly, Ramon is a great guy. Our Elite concierge Danielle was lovely, she did her very best to make things right for is. Lobby bartenders though, filling premium liquor bottles with cheap swill, not cool. Believe me, we can taste the difference. Unfortunately management doesn't seem to care about the quality of this hotel. Its really showing its age, but the food was the biggest issue. The week we were there, March 8 to 15, 2022, dozens of people we knew about suffered from food poisoning. It got me on day 2 and I was violently ill for 24 hours, with another 24 for recovery. My wife got it on day 4, same duration. One guy was out for 3 days, while another had to be hooked up to an IV drip, I kid you not! A group we met there had been going for years and they could not believe how far the standards had dropped here. They said they would not be back. I get the pandemic has significantly impacted the hospitality industry, but that is no excuse for improper food handling, nor an excuse for management to turn a blind eye to all the issues this resort has.
I think I have 10 pictures of my week in Mazatlan, normally I'd come home with 10 times that.
