About El Convento
Estamos ubicados en el corazón de México un edificio que data de el siglo XVIII y que originalmente fue La Casa de los Camilos, también conocida como la "la casa e los agonizantes"; un lugar construido para el cuidado de enfermos e inaugurado por Camilo de Lenis, el patrón e los hospitales y los enfermos, quien llegó a nuestro país en 1755, para ayudar principalmente a enfermos "incurables".
En los años 1920 pasó a manos privadas y se volvió un espacio para disfrutar de cine, teatro, fue casa habitación, sede de oficinas y, desde 1957, se convirtió en El Convento, uno de los lugares de mayor tradición en Coyoacán con una oferta gastronómica de comida mexicana de autor que no puedes perderte.

En 2022, El Convento se reinventa para convertirse en el proncipal punto de entrada al espíritu de Coyoacán, a su historia, tradiciones, su amor por la cultura y las artes y por supuesto: lo mejor de la cocina colonial.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ El Convento, located in the historic and picturesque Coyoacan neighborhood, is a great option for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The building itself is an architectural jewel, an old convent renovated to include the restaurant and a boutique hotel. At the restaurant you have a choice of a la carte or buffet service which include traditional Mexican dishes, prepared with great care and well presented. Service is impecable, professional; prices are reasonable. Valet parking available.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wow! I was just taking my daily walk, and since it was Friday (the day I treat myself to a good meal), I happen to see this restaurant and just walked in.
To my surprise, it was simply wonderful. The atmosphere, the music and the decor. Just perfect.
I just ordered the first thing I saw on the menu since I don't speak or read Spanish. I ordered some enchiladas that were very very good. And it had the right amount of seasoning and spiciness. Since I can't eat spicy food I was delighted that it was perfect.
The waiter confirmed to me it wasn't real spicy, and it wasn't. Kudos to him. Cause usually if I ask at other places they will say it's not and it is and I can't eat it.
Too bad I didn't have my phone with me or I would have taken a picture of it.
Definitely recommend anyone in the area to stop by this establishment. As for me, I'm going back next Friday! :D

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The building is historic, which is why I am giving it one star. Apart from that, service is bad and slow, food is disappointing, and atmosphere depends on where you are seated. In our case, it was a table right next to the kitchen. Not a cheap place either, would not go back

I asked for Michalada but they only gave salt, I had to ask for chillies to be added in. Isnt it implied or is it me?
