Great option if you are in San Cristobal. Staff is nice and friendly, the portions are big and the pita bread was 10/10 (for reaaal!). If you're looking for mediterranean food, great pita bread and hummus and relax ambience, El Gallo Pinto is your place!

The servers was fantastic, and the food was amazing! I have never had better hummus and pitta bread anywhere else! I also tried shawarma and a bunch of other food, anything I tried there are delicious, and the portion is pretty big as well. The owners are super friendly, and they always experiment on new food. When I go back to San Cris, I would definitely go back to El Gallo Pinto :)

Hands down the best falafel and hummus in town. A Mediterranean restaurant, in Mexico, with a Costa Rican name? You might be forgiven for coming in with low expectations, but the reality is this place makes fantastic food. For me, I typically go with the basics: falafel and hummus, but sometimes I mix it up and go with "fusion" cuisine like the quesadilla arabes. Their eponymous dish, Gallo Pinto, is fantastic if you're interested in trying Costa Rica's national dish. Delicious, filling, and cheap, this is a great choice if you're on a budget but don't want to skimp on flavor. Feeling thirsty? Try the kombucha (made locally in San Cris!) or some Mezcal. Their Mezcal selection is surprisingly high end - ask Tico about what he's got as the good stuff isn't always on the menu ; )

I have travelled for 4 weeks through Mexico and this was the best meal I had all trip. The staff are amazing - they put the TV on so we could watch football - there is great atmosphere, and the food is amazing quality whilst also being very affordable. I stayed at the hostel next to El Gallo Pinto (Deja Vu) and my only regret is that I left it until my last night in San Cristobal to eat here. A must do if you’re in San Cristobal!

The falafel, hummus, pita, and shawarma at Gallo Pinto are delicious and the staff are very friendly. The setting is casual and good for groups or solo dining. There’s also mezcal and cervezas available. This is a great place in San Cristobal for authentic Mediterranean cuisine and to have an enjoyable meal. Buen provecho!

This place is great. The food is delicious and with various flavours. They have a large vegetarian menu but also one with different meats. You can also find artisanal mezcal. Menu changes often so you can come as often as you want. ?

Absolutely amazing Mediterranean food! This is your go-to spot if your craving something different then your usual Mexican food. Went for the chicken shoarma wrap, which was simply a 10/10. Had to come back for the falafel wrap, which was maybe even better!
