El Rancho Evergreen Horse Ranch - 29410 San Isidro Chichihuistán

I have no words to describe how our stay at Rancho Evergreen was. We instantly felt part of their family and of the life of the ranch. Stephanie, Sam and their daughters were lovely and their lifestyle inspiring. We shared all meals together and the food was more than amazing. I am an experienced horse rider but my husband is not; they succeeded in making the experience amazing for both of us, taking time and patience to show us how to approach and understand the horses and making fun rides in the forest. Thank you so much for these days that felt like paradise. Ranch evergreen is the kind of place you’re sure to come back.

It was a wonderful and very relaxed experience. The ranch is easy to reach, I went on my own using a collectivo to the village Betania and then a taxi to the ranch. The place is located in the beautiful mountains, surrounded purely by nature. There are 6 peaceful, chilled, but playful little dogs hanging out, some chickens, cats, sheep, no elefant yet, two cows and of course a herd of very gentle horses. Stephanie and Sam are very welcoming, it was a beautiful day and Sam taught me a lot about horses, the fine communication they use, and also about animals and humans in general. We had a giant, delicious, vegetarian lunch, a coconut drink and later went out on a beautiful trail ride in the mountains. The views were magnificent. When the sun set, I left the place with a big smile on my face, seeing the beautiful scenery in yet another, even more enchanting light. I can truely recommend the experience to everybody who enjoys nature and animals.

I initially came to El Rancho Evergreen for a couple of days as a birthday treat, but, I loved my time there SO MUCH that I ended up coming back on two other occasions- and would have returned for more in a heartbeat if I was staying in the area for longer! Sam and Stephanie have created far more than a beautiful ranch where you can ride horses in a tranquil Chiapas setting; they’ve created an experience that inspires, and reminds you of what matters most in life. Between Sam’s guided rides -which were the most amazing moments I’ve had on a horse, ever- Stephanie’s warmth, culinary artistry and awesome awesome awesome travel recommendations, and the super cozy accommodations and sweet animals frolicking around the ranch…it felt like time stopping in a storybook setting. I could have easily stayed for weeks. I recommend at least a couple of days to fully soak it all in, let yourself unwind and let your thoughts roam free. A treat for the mind, body and soul, in every respect!

A Truly Special Place My husband and I spent two days at Rancho Evergreen and only wished we had been able to stay for longer. The entire experience was magical. The property is beautiful, secluded, and unique. Flowers everywhere, horses and animals walking around, mountains surrounding you... The house is clean and comfortable and has everything you could need. It is also beautiful. Stephanie, Samuel, Zoe and Cheyenne are welcoming, gracious, and extremely fun to hang out with! Stephanie is an incredible cook and makes sure you are well fed and happy. Samuel is kind and patient and truly understands horses and animals of all kinds. Everyone is professional, attentive, engaging and friendly. I am an experienced horse back rider and my husband is a beginner. We both had an amazing time. This is not just a trail ride--this is quality time spent forming a relationship with a horse and being in nature. I cannot say enough good things about Rancho Evergreen! We had an amazing experience here. As a experienced rider there's loads of opportunity for a fast ride on one of their horses, (mares and stallions) who are all cared for lovingly, with bit-less bridles and free roaming land on the ranch, as well as a gallop track. It was an exhilarating ride through the woods and the stallion I rode was wonderful, responsive, and so kind. The connection you will build with the horses is beautiful. Helmets and chaps are supplied, as well as boots if they fit. While it is a little tricky to get to the first time, it's so, so worth the visit, Sam and Stephanie are awesome people. Wish we could have spent longer there and for my boyfriend to learn as a beginner.

I spent three days and three nights at El Rancho Evergreen and it was 100% the best thing I have ever done. It was by far my favourite 3 days I've ever had on a trip (and I've been travelling for 2 years accumulatively full time). The horses, the ranch, the accommodation, the people, the owners, the animals EVERYTHING was perfect. I always walk into something with no expectation because I want to appreciate everything and expect nothing but wow, even if I had gone in with the highest expectations; they would have been met and exceeded. The horses and all the animals are also in such good condition and the whole experience was life changing. I'm already planning my return!

If what makes you happy about traveling is to find real connections, "EverGreen Ranch" is the place for you. And I don't mean it in an holistic or commercial way. I'm talking about meeting people that approach life in such a passionate, simple and generous way that it's contagious. Sam is absolutely amazing. It was very inspiring to see his gentle and loving connection with the animals. Luckily, I didn't have any previous experience with horses so I could enjoy the unique opportunity to learn from him. It was something very special that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Stephanie is the perfect host, she is a sweet and strong woman that is always shining around and making sure everybody is well taken care of. I enjoyed a lot our great long conversations over breakfast at their house. I stayed at the dorms and everything was great. So if you are a solo traveler on a budget like me, feel encouraged to stay here as well. A perfect place to relax surrounded by animals, nature and beautiful people. My recommendations: don't miss the sunset and bring some wine to drink by the fireplace at night. Enjoy your stay!!!!! I'm definitely planning to go back =)
